Just Made The Best Purchase On A Model Plane

Sat Jun 12, 2004 1:51 pm

I just bought a Herpa Delta 777 new colors and I am foaming at the mouth to get this thing. I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best planes I put in my collection. In fact, i think it is going to be my new centerpiece. Anyone have these 1:200 scale herpas? let me know if you do and what you think of them. They look very sharp to me!

What's the biggest scale for a model plane?

They had massive models of Concorde and a 744 at MAN.

The regular (non-Premium) Herpa 1:200 models are very nice for the price. As for their 777s, I have the United and Korean. One thing Herpa needs to fix on their 1:200 777s is the cockpit windows. The outermost windows slant up, when they actually should slant down. No biggie though, still a nice overall representation of the 1:1. I really like the stands that come with the non-Premium models; the plane rests on it with a slight bank angle.

Like I said the non-Premiums are great for the price, but they are nothing compared to Herpa's beautiful Premium Series. Sprung landing gear, clear cockpit and pax windows, all the approtpraite antennae, perfect moulds, all the detail possible on a model this scale, and on and on. You gotta see these things for real to know what I mean when I say they are AMAZING. Pricey, but amazing.

I have a Herpa 1:200 bmi A332 (non-premium). It's probably my favourite of the models I have. It's a very detailed model of a beautiful plane!

I was given an Emirates A380 model the other week from work - it is absolutely gorgeous and so detailed! It's now the centrepiece of my collection.

I think it's the same as this one:

Hey Guys, I have been seeing alot of you collect Herpa and Dragon Wings and these are all pretty awesome die cast models. Hec, I want to start a table sized model airport with some of the panels and aircrafts Big grin .
Just out of interest,do any of you build the plastic injection moulded aircrafts e.g. Revell Germany and Minicraft? I do want to take this a bit seriously now that I have some more time after studies . I have a F/A18 Hornet that my dad built for me when I was a kid but now I think I can do them myself. Big grin
