Airplane Propeller Ceiling Fan?

Wed Jul 07, 2004 12:41 am

I am looking for a ceiling fan made out of, or resembling, an airplane propellar. I have found a few online, but not quite what I am looking for.

Anyone have any suggestions? I did not care for the few I found because they were painted and the fan motor painted to look like the engine cowling of a plane.

I am looking for something a little more classic looking, maybe with a wooden propeller blade?

I have never heard of a fan made to look like a prop, but I have to say now that I've heard the idea I want one!

Hey,

I think you can still get those at Lowe's or Home Depot in the fan dept. I can't recall, but I know I've seen them in one of the stores, but I don't know if they still carry them. I assume so, since what I do remember is that they marketed them for fans in kid rooms.

This is amazing, I thought I was the only one curious about prop style ceiling fans. I always wondered if there was a C-130 style or ATR-72 style ceiling fan  Smile Perhaps someone will make one someday.

Regards

Buy a black one at Home Depot and paint it yourself.

I don't think a fan made with an actual airplane propeller would be possible, unless you're using those light wood props. Metal propellers are very heavy and would require some strong supports and a strong motor to operate...
