Some Questions On Airline Simulation

Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:40 am

Greetings everyone. I am looking for a game I can play on my computer that involves aviation and planning an airline. I've looked at Airport Tycoon 3, but I feel I would be wasting my money. Anyway, I was looking at the Airline Simulation website today and I have some questions:

- Is Airline 6 currently available to buy?

- What are the differences between Airline 5 & 6 (which one should i purchase?)

- Are the prices on the website in Australian dollars or U.S. Dollars? (if australian, what would the price be in U.S.?)

Now I have tried to search the forum here, but I came up with nothing. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my thread and hopefully helping me with my question.

Signed,
Matthew

The prices for Airline are in Australia dollars, and there's a currency converter on the ordering page. I would assume that Airline 5 is better than 6 but from what I've heard no matter which version you buy you will be totally and completely satisfied.  Smile

The price I recently paid in $USD was around 55 plus a 1 or 2 dollar conversion fee by my credit card company.

I've enjoyed Airline Sim 5 a great deal as well. I can't wait for version 6. I wish they'd update the site, just to keep us all from speculating.

I've tried both Airport Tycoon, and Airline Tycoon. Neither hold a candle to Airline Simulation. It is by far the best.

www.airlinesimulation.com is currently down, they're working on migrating to a new server that apparently didn't go as planned, they were supposed to be down for 2 days, it's been nearly a week.

AIRLINE 5.1 will supposedly be out in a few days, with AIRLINE 6 about 6 weeks behind that, I should add though, that EFZED can't get accurate release dates for the life of them.

I've had issues with my Airline 5, but overall am still satisfied enough with it to use it every other day and will soon be moving to 5.1 (v6 sounds better but they tell me that 5.1 will be the last version to run on my Windows 98 so I guess 5.1 is good enough for me)

Is Airline 6 currently available to buy?
Airline 6 will be availible soon.

What are the differences between Airline 5 & 6 (which one should i purchase?)
v5 is currently the main version, coming very soon is 5.1 which is a good update of v5 (and the last airline to work with Windows 98 and Windows me, as v6 will require Windows 2000 or XP), and v6 is a major update from v5/5.1, If you have the Windows 2000 or XP I would take a guess and say go for v6.

Are the prices on the website in Australian dollars or U.S. Dollars? (if australian, what would the price be in U.S.?)
Prices are in Aussi dollars, but there is a currency converter on the order page.

And I already started planning my fleet for the airline I will start when i get 5.1....
Short Haul:
Start with the good old 721... then order 731 for major routes and downgrade the 721s for regional use... then get some 732s to replace the 731s which will replace the 721s which will be sold off... then keep the 731s and 732s for regional and less popular routes while I use the newer 732Adv for more popular routes, then expand with 733s and 735s, and eventually get 737NG to replace the 733s and 735s which will eventually replace the older 731s and 732s which will be sold off.
Long Haul:
Start with 707s, then add 747s, then replace 707s and expand with 767s, and then replace the older 747s with 777s.

All the best

CanadianNorth- Don't get rid of the 747, introduce the 744 and use the 777 on 'thinner' routes, after all it is a classic and still has the best fuel economy (so I've heard from soome A.netters)

I'm waiting for Airline 5.1 to come out, I've decided to go for it instead of waiting for 6 as 5.1 has most of the features 6 is going to have, and who knows when 6 is going to come out.

The site is up, but the links to the airline signin and airline Online are disabled.

The game is great. But the updating process for the game is the worst. They have great customer service and back in the days when they actually updated the game the updates came fairly regularly. I would like to see them return to small incremental changes rather than these huge changes that they obviously have problems doing.

In all I would say buy the game it is worth it and it blows away any other airline tycoon game out there. Just do not expect them to get a release date right.

ZKSUJ.... I could do that but the 777-300ER can do most things the 747 can, and have more flt deck/maintenace commonalitly with my 777-200, -200ER and -200LRs....
