Easy Way To Add Wing Views!

Mon Aug 23, 2004 6:44 pm

The reason I'm posting this is because I know that there are many people who would probably like wingviews in Flight Simulator but don't know how create them. I was browsing Avsim today and I discovered some great new downloads in the file library which make it really easy to add wingviews to many add-on aircraft. The files are called "Ultimate Wing Views" by Brian Kolbuch and the author has versions for the:

POSKY Boeing 747-400
POSKY Boeing 747-300
POSKY Boeing 747-200
POSKY Canadair CRJ-900
POSKY Boeing 757-300
POSKY A330-300
POSKY A330-200
POSKY A340-300
POSKY A340-200
POSKY Canadair CRJ-200
POSKY Boeing 757-200 IFDG MD-11
Meljet Boeing 777-200
Dreamwings ERJ-145 & ERJ-145XR
Dreamwings ERJ-140 Aircraft
Dreamwings ERJ-135 Aircraft
FFX / SGA MD-83 , MD-87, and MD-88
FFX / SGA MD-80 , MD-81 , and MD-82
FFX / SGA Boeing 737-300
FFX / SGA Boeing 737-200

Before, I had been unsuccessful trying to add wingviews myself but I tried these ones for the POSKY A332 and they work very well.

Hope you find them useful!

Where abouts do the wingviews go on the aircraft (overwing, aft of wing, etc..) I like my views to show either just ahead of the wing so I can see my engine or just behind.

I'll go and check them out.

EDIT: Doesn't matter, I've figured it out "Ach! Open yer eyes man!"

Mirrodie, if you've already downloaded the file from AVSIM, unzip it and look for the readme file. That should have detailed instructions on how to install it.

They sound very useful. Personally, I prefer using ActiveCamera Pro because you can move your view around until satisfied and then save that configuration to use in the future.

I tried it on the A330, the view behind the wing is the best, but I can only see all of the wing if I zoom out, like the other views have chunks missing (engine is too close to be seen etc...) unless I zoom out, is there any way to combat this?

Also I am using the default 777 panel on my 757's (not got the good one working properly yet), now I know I need to copy the panel.cfg and other files to my panel directry but how do I add the behind wing view to this (I know which one is the behind view (numbers 1 and 3) but there is no 'Views' section and I want to change the numbers perhaps to 4 and 6 so I still get to keep my normal view.

Thanks

Phil

Yeah, that is true. I think the only way to change that is to move the eyepoint down but I wouldn't do that because it's meant to be at window height. There may be a way to just change the angle of the view to make it look more downwards but I'm not sure how to do that.
