Editiing Aircraft CFG?

For repaints, the readme says "dont forget to eidt your aircraft cfg. What does this mean?

TriJetFan1,

You need to go into My Computer, then Microsoft Games, Then FS2002/2004 (which ever one you have). In there you should find a folder called, Aircraft. Open that folder and find the file/aircraft you want to make changes to. Once you've found the file you want, open it and in there should be a CFG document called aircraft. That's the one you want  Big thumbs up

That's the file which contains most of the controls of the aircraft. You can edit those, but I'd advice you not to mess with them unless you're fully sure you know what you're doing.

How your aircraft is categorized is defined in the .CFG file for that aircraft. Here is an example:

atc_id=N747
atc_airline=Global Freightways
atc_flight_number=1123
atc_heavy=1
atc_parking_types=CARGO
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="Global Freightways"

atc_id - tells the game what the aircrafts registration number is

atc_airline - tells the game the name that ATC will refer to your aircraft. I.E. make it say Airliners.net and the ATC will call you "Airliners.net turn left heading 210.. etc

atc_flight_number - self-explanatory

atc_heavy - 1=true 0=false

ui_manufacturer - tells the game that this aircraft on the aircraft select screen will be filed as a Boeing, change it to Airbus and it will be under Airbus

ui_type - self-explanatory, make it say C172, and you will have a Boeing C172 lol

ui_variation - tells the game what the aircrafts livery is called


I hope this helps you in editing the aircrafts .CFG file so you can find the plane in the game. As for all the other goodies in the CFG file, don't you dare mess with them unless you have thorough experience in such matters. You might mess up and your AN225 will fly like a Cessna 150!! Think I'm joking?

This is for the Default C182S.

When you download a repaint of the default C182S it should have a text with it that will look like this.

Notice the [fltsim.X]. The X has to be changed to the next consecutive number in the cfg file.

Also notice that I have done this...texture=X. X can be anything that you want, so long as your texture folder is the same.

In this case it would be Texture.X

I hope this clears things up a little.

Hey everyone, thank you all very much for the help, it worked! But there is one problem. I downloaded CO textures for the MD-83 (SGA) and they are messed up. The textures are there but theres something wrong. PLEASE HELP!
