Disappearing Gear

Sun Dec 05, 2004 2:40 pm

This is an ongoing problem and I really would appreciate some help. I just flew from Cairo to Orly in the wonderful PMDG 737NG. Wonderful flight - smooth touchdown - everything just perfect until the replay. As soon as the replay starts I get the "Gear - Too low" warning and the gear and the flaps retract. So still a smooth landing but no wheeels, flaps spoilers or reverse thrust.
This has gone on for so long. There are other times where it works fine but every third one or so seems to do this.
I tried setting the parking brake, extending the replay time etc etc but none of it does any good. Any ideas anyone? It is ruining a wonderful product when I show my wife a greaser at Orly like that. By the way it does exactly the same thing with the default aircraft, Meljets and the PSS packages.
Please help - any suggestions gratefully received and appreciated. I am running FS2002.

i noticed this problem as well. it happenned usually after i taxied off the active, retracted the flaps and began taxiing to the gate. what i did to avoid it is to stop and leave everything the way ti was at touchdown. stop the plane on the runway with the reversers open, flaps down, and spoilers up. see if that helps.

This usually goes for every FS plane. I have noticed that if you retract flaps, they have to extend again when doing the replay. The cockpit does not know the difference between a replay and the real thing, so it gives the gear too low warning.

Yup, I agree. the same thing happens with the AP, you disengage it but in the replay it is re-engeged and the plane starts to behave badly.

I've had this too, but found out that it had to do with the yaw dampers. The yaw dampers in replay should be switched in the same way you were flying. So if you landed with the yaw dampers on (not realistic though), and switched them off after landing for taxiing, you should switch them on again for the replay.

I hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Every landing is a controlled crash

Thanks everyone and especially Cancidas. Using the 737NG I landed manually and then came to a halt on the active leaving everything exactly the way it was upon touchdown. Everything was there in the replay including gear, flaps, spoliers, reverse thrust etc.The next time I landed I retracted just the spoilers after coming to a stop and went for the replay. Guess what - no spoliers but also no gear or flaps or reverse thrust. Land it and leave it well alone and nothing will disappear it seems. Thanks Cancidas for your timely advice.

I take it back folks. Two landing tonight both in the 737NG and the old problems returned despite the fact that I followed all the good advice. I give up - does anyone from Microsoft read these forums?

do you use "pause" when you land, and then go to the replay menu?

if you do, then try it without pausing first.
just hit alt on the keyboard and select replay from the list.

the wheels will remain.

Thanks inbound but the problem persists. Malaysian 777 with PSS panel from Vantaa to Frankfurt today - smooth touchdown, a fraction low on approach but as soon as replay was selected after a full stop and not touching anything else, everything disappeared as soon as the replay started. This is driving me crazy.
