Hello all
Just a qucik question about flight simulator. I have been playing this game for over a year now 737/747/777 cessna 172 etc. I especially enjoy flying the boeings. I can manage to land these aircraft with a visual approach no problem. However i have never been sucessful in setting the controls for an ILS approach so the aircraft is alligned with the runway.
I know how to set my routes say. man-lhr. set altitude, heading etc.
however as soon as the aircraft approaches the landing airport airspace and you get clearance from ATC for the ILS approach. i don't know how to set the instruments. so i have to use the visual approach which means most of the time i am landing at an angle, theN banking left or right to bring aircraft in line with runway. any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I have looked in the tutorials but do really underdstand it.

first you need to get the frequency of the ILS. You can get this by going to
the mapview, scrolling to the arrival airport, click on it and scroll down..the frequencies for each runway will be listed. I always listen to ATIS about 50
mile out to get the active runway, then get the frequency.

Once you've been cleared for the approach, and the frequency is dialed in,
make sure your autopilot is on, then hit the "APP" (approach" button) once
the AP intercepts the localizer, the AP will handle it from there, turn the airplane
to the runway heading and guide you to the runway. I always handfly the last
5 or so miles using rudder to account for winds.

ILS Helps ya get onto the runway in bad weather and low vis.

Just means as well u can take it to the next level

If you where using FSNav.It would have been much much neasier for you.If you just manage to enter the Departue and destination runways it will create the best possible flight plane and automatically set the navigational instrumensu for you as your flight proceeds. During and ILS approach it will automatically set the Course and Frequnecy and even make a fully automated landing. So if you see how the landing is dont in Automated mode a couple of time then it will be very easy for you to then set it mauelly and fly an full ILS approach and land.www.fsnavigator.com
