At least you guys got this channel - still don't get it in Australia, even with the introduction of digital cable.
By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Yea they need to spend way more time on general-aviation stuff. It seems as tho they re-run the notso interesting stuff. Even tho I'm Military, I do think they over do it w/the military program's....

You guys should move to the UK, we still get Discovery Wings. I don't know why, but it's only the US that is getting the Military Channel.

Well, although I'll miss the Discovery Wings Channel, the Military Channel really isn't that bad. And finally some episodes from this millenium!

OB1504, I totally agree with you. I loved the Discovery Wings Channel, but I just got so tired of so many shows, "...and by the turn of the century..."

Hmm... so they are just changing the name then!?  Wink/being sarcastic
They don't show enough modern general/civil stuff at all here in the UK. There are so many good videos out there for this hobby, and I think they should buy a few of those and show them.

When I heard DiscWings was finishing in the US I thought it would end here too, but I was watching it last night and they are going to change the setup of Wednesday and Sunday nights, so it looks like they still have plans for it in the UK. (Ok, so I spend SOME of Saturday night watching Discovery Wings, god that's sad!)

I´ve just seen the 2-disc DVD from Discovery wings about flying boats, I think it´s a good buy. But I would liked to have it with choice of subtitle or no-subtitle, all measurement are given in imperial, it would´ve been nice to choose between metric or imperial measurement in the subtitles.
Otherwise lot of seaplanes, mainly US ones, but also Germans, Japanese, Russian and UK ones.

Discovery Wings..........
Half the time the programs arent even about airplanes. Its usually something about trains or vintage cars on.

Thank you!!! Glad I'm not the only one a tad irritated by all the non aviation shows they put on.... and why on earth does it only start at 6pm and then go on through the night... are we all supposed to be insomniacs?

Discovery Wings, pish!

All of the programmes are so old they need a shave. I'm sick to death of seeing the SAS DC9 flight, in fact all of the Flight Deck series. The only good thing is that if you miss something you really want to watch in the early evening, it's repeated before closedown that same evening.

I just wish they would commission new programmes. At least we don't have to put up with Brendan anymore!!

As did I. The programming was rather limited as well. Within one 24 hour period, you could see the same show at least 4 different times.

It seemed to me that the powers that be at that network never really cared. They could have shown feature length aviation related movies, maybe even the made-for-TV stuff. Hell, either Sporty's or AOPA could have been approached for some ideas. I'm sure they could have come up with something.

Looks like the programming for the US version of Discovery Wings was different that the UK version. All I ever saw were aircraft related stuff.
I lift things up and put them down.

Anyone else remember when "Wings" was just a show (not the shitty sitcom on USA) on Discovery? I was about 9 or 10 when I found it and I thought it was pretty much the greatest thing ever.
