The Super Duper Screenie Competition!

Sat Jan 22, 2005 8:09 am

Hi Guys and Gals!  Smile

After many screenshot threads have been started I think its time to add a bit more fun to it  Smile, so we bring you:

The SUPER DUPER SCREENSHOT COMPETITION!

Myself and Hoons90 have decided to Run a Screenshot competition.

We will both Host this event and both will be judging on the winner. We will not be posting any ourselves.

Guidelines:

- You May submit as many times as you wish,
- Please avoid using Slew Mode
- Photoshop can ONLY be used for cropping and Sharpening
- All Forms of flight sim may be used (i.e 98/2000/2002/2004)
- Only post you OWN screenshots

There is no deadline date as yet, but as soon as this picks up me and Hoons90 shall give you a date.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded to whoever we feel has the most eye catching screenshots.

How to post a screenshot:

  • first go to http://www.avsim.com and search on a program called FSScreen. (this is not a requirement but is advised)

  • once you have this program installed get simming  Smile/happy/getting dizzy, When you feel the need to take a shot press the 'Prt Scr' Button (print screen) on the top right hand side of your keyboard. Do this as many times as you want.

  • now all your shots should appear as JPG files on your desktop. Leave them there or move them to another folder if you wish and edit it them in MS Paint or Photoshop (sharpening and cropping ONLY) and save them as a Jpg file

  • now you need an image server, I suggest http://www.photobucket.com, register here and upload your saved screenshots to this account then when you have them online on photobucket, copy and paste the Tag starting with img border=0 src= onto your Airliners.net text box and post  Smile

    Prize

Well being that i dont have anything to offer and nor does Hoons just play this for Fun, Getting first place will just mean you get a better feeling hehe.

Good Luck to all! Happy simming!,

    Best Regards,
    Kaz and Hoons.

God, look at the screenies hosted on the photobucket accounts compared to the others, I guess the damn compression photobucket does hashes the hell out of the pics and adds all the jaggies and such.

    MADtoCAE....

Yep, Golfy is correct. Your current format for the pics are in .bmp

I had that problem as well  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Change them to .jpeg and they will appear larger.

Lemme guess...you used FSScreen? That program saves them to your desktop in .bmp format. I use it as well. I import them into MSPaint and save them to a "special" folder i created only in .jpeg format.

.....i'm rambling...i hope it makes senes.

YooYoo, I use fsscreen and it has always saved my shots as JPEG straight away. I don't know why, because I haven't altered anything.

    Hi everyone,

Ten of my recent favourites (apologies 56k, although I have compressed these JPEGs  Smile), with suitably whimsical titles  Big grin

    American Beauty
US Airways A330-300 about to touch English soil on a spring evening.

    Crossing Myrtle
G-BYGE is short finals for LHR 27L just about to cross over the famous (at least for spotters) Myrtle Avenue

    Departing Dallas
One of the best liveries out there, as the 737-700 powers away from 17R at the start of a flight to LAS.

    Dusk line up
A BA A319 preparing to enter LHR 27R

    Homecoming
Autoland onto LHR 27L for this A330

    Into the West
Heading back towards the US, another A330-300

    Last light
In the cruise over northern Russia enroute to HKG in a CX A340-300

    North sea sunrise
FL230 cruise for G-EUPA, heading for AMS

    Over the Rockies
Almost time to start descent for the Dreamliner, as the sun is setting

    Rainy Amsterdam
EUPA is on finals for 18C, a wet morning at AMS

Oh and a tip - I’ve noticed some people posting screenshots are putting them in at much higher resolutions than will display on this page. The result is not only do they take longer to load but the browser then has to squash them down to fit in this table (maximum width 650 pixels). Browsers don’t compress as well as graphics programs, so the shots look quite grainy. If it all possible be sure to resize them to 650x520 pixels before posting with a graphics program. They come out a lot better  Smile.

Gofly - no no that's the A330 vc in one of my shots! But it is sometimes tricky to tell the difference, particularly at that angle. The clue is in the upper ECAM which has slightly different flap/engine readouts for the A330 (and different depending on the engine model).

Anyway the panel is from PSS's A330/340 package, at www.phoenixsimulations.co.uk (payware). Boxed version at www.justflight.com.
