The Screenshot Thread (V.16)

Thu Mar 24, 2005 2:46 pm

I'm rather proud of this!

Reason being, this aircraft, G-RAES was originally a Pratt & Whitney powered aircraft when I downloaded it, but as in real life, she's infact equipped with GE90 engines, I wanted to try and convert it to a GE90 model in FS2004. I put the textures into a GE90 base model and it wouldn't work. The engine textures were just blank, BUT I managed to do it by just copying the engine textures from another BA 777 texture folder that has GE90 engines into the textures for this aircraft (sounds confusing i know..!) and wa-hey... it worked. So now it is a fully converted GE90 plane!!

And here she is with her brand new engines!

Now for my next bit of magic!

Myself and Lee (BMIFlyer) spent approximately 90 minutes trying to figure out how to get the smoke effects of an MD83 to work on the Meljet 777... No easy task as the configuration for the MD83 smoke differs massively from the 777. At first I just installed the smoke effects into the 777 and tested it, and the smoke (when activated) was coming out of the 777's tail wings and looks totally ridiculous! But with Lee's genius, and my testing, we came up with something and it worked a treat!!

And here is a smoky Peter Max in full flow!

I originally wanted this smoke effect for my United 777's as they are well known for their smokey take-offs, but i think I shall be using it for all 777 flights from now on!

Thanks Lee for your superb help in making this possible!  bigthumbsup

What is this BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH  banghead ...It almost sounds Deadly.
Is it where the game freezes? And is it only with FS2004?, because Ive never had it with FS2002.

The blue screen of death is, amazingly, a blue screen that all too often appears when some error occurs while using Windows, usually when doing something particularly important, such as landing a plane. It basically tells you about the error, and occasionally why it has happened. Damn Windows...

Slowing down

This was the first time I have ever flown this type. It handled nice in the air, but I did not like the feel of the plane on finals and while taxiing on the ground.

Next flight will be ATL-TLH on a DL 738, which will bring me home after a lonnng journey around the world.

Ok, here is my stuff, from a recent flight around McGrath, Alaska in a Cessna 441, doing the VOR approach to rwy 16:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot1.jpg
Outbound on the 035 radial from McGrath VOR to intercept the 14DME arc, enjoying the aurora overhead.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot3.jpg
Magnificent sunset!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot4.jpg
The view out the window.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot5.jpg
On the DME arc. The view is so nice outside I got a bit distracted and am 200 feet lower than I'm supposed to be...  ashamed

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot6.jpg
Got a little too far out on the arc (.8 miles), and correcting to get closer.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot7.jpg
Sunset.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/miyridian/PAMCshot8.jpg
On final with the runway in sight.

It was a great approach, and made for one of those ultra-real FS moments.

WOW!

Nice pics there guys, and nice NWA DC10 there Ross.
I've been looking for a USAirways A330 for ages! Obviously not hard enough lol.

All of you are making me jealous!    My FS dosen't work anymore, it just freezes after 5 mins, not even that, of simming, and I have to restart the computer, and even after that, the graphics are crap (I even have an ATI Radeon 9600 128MB) and it is sooo jittery, I can hardly play.

If some of you guys could help me it will be much appreciated.

Tom

p.s. How do you install Airport Environment Upgrade?

Taking off from Turin

Testing out the new model

And yes, I used to do a hell of a lot of serious flights, but I never took screenshots of them!

Download it from Avsim and just copy and paste the textures into your texture folder. Don't forget to overwrite!. AEU v7 did not work for me so I got v6 and it just works fine.

It is a fantastic plane, though, and possibly my favorite non-jet aircraft.

Also, I had a AA752 of POSKY, and it had Cessna 172 sound files, do you have to download the normal sound files separately?

They came with the panel. Search for 737 under "Panels" in Avsim

Nope. That's why when I had FS2002 I got the regular edition. No need to pay more, IMHO. With FS2000 I did get the Pro edition because it came with the Concorde.

You're welcome. It took me a while to do so. It didn't work if I just copied/cut from the winzip folder into the textures folder, so I had to paste them into a temp folder, then into the textures... why? I have no clue!

Quoting TupolevTu154 (Reply 26):

You could do that for added realism. Or if you're too lazy you can just paste sounds from 737, 777, etc...

Can anyone recommend a good prop for FS? Something like a Beech Baron or the likes. Maybe even like the King Air, it's just that I think FS' version is crap!
