1:400 AA MD-80 Wanted

Fri Mar 25, 2005 10:40 am

I am interested in buying or trading for an AA MD-80 in the 1:400 scale, in the standard AA colors. (I've asked friends but they only have some in the AA/TW transition scheme, etc.) If anybody has one that they are willing to sell, please contact me at
etflies@hotmail.com. I am willing to pay for shipping and handling, of course.

Thanks for your help!

Hey, sorry i can't help ya with the model, but I did find this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=69828&item=8179973250&rd=1

You probably already have one of these, but i thought it was worth a try!

Dragon Wings made a very limited American Airlines Boeing MD-82 in 1:400 scale. It is not the Boeing MD-83, MD-87, or MD-90 made in a transitional Reno Air/American Airlines livery, but one in the regular livery, with a chrome finish. One pops up on eBay every couple of months, so I'd recommend you do a daily search. They seem to go quite expensively, though.

Well, i'm pleased to tell you EBAY has multiple ones for sale.

MD-82

MD-83, doesnt appear to be the polished type

Can't tell as it isnt out of box, but its another 83

To get to these, iI typed in "american 1/400"

Good day, and happy finding.

Are you sure Gemini Jets ever made an American Airlines MD-80 in standard livery (in 1:400)? The only one I have been aware of was produced by Dragon Wings. The production runs of Gemini Jets models, by comparison to Dragon Wings, seem to be generous enough to give ample opportunity for collectors to buy.

Gemini Jets doesn't even have an MD-80 mold. He meant to say Dragon wings.

There have been 4 versions of the AA md-80 made by Dragon
Chrome version...extremely rare and was bought up really quick when first released
Polished version...same as above
AA/TWA chrome version...limited run and just about as rare as the 2 above
White version...currently out now and priced under $20

If you are interested in the first 3 my suggestion is to check ebay often. I would also check the model trader sections of the following forums...diecastaircraft.com, wings900.com, airlinebuzz.com

Sometimes collectors don't realize how much these planes are worth or are in need to get rid of them quick so they are reasonably priced.

I myself have the first 3 models listed and bought them for under $35 each all second hand within the past year and a half.
