The Screenshot Thread... V20. (30/3 To 4/4)

Wed Mar 30, 2005 9:43 pm

Hi folks,

I thought up a new method of doing the screenshot posts from now on... Basically we should do 5 days worth of pictures before a new thread starts, and judging by the excellent input we've been seeing recently, over the 5 day period we should fill up each thread very adequately.
Good idea? Bad idea? Whaddaya think?!

Anyway, here are some of my latest...

DL175 queueing for departure at JFK.

DL175 to Atlanta climbing away from 04L.

Leaving JFK behind.

Sunset on the NYC skyline.

Above JFK.

Flying into the beautiful coloured sky.

G-CPEM at Manchester, Gate 43.

G-CPEM at MAN's Runway 06L ready for departure.

Malaysian Airlines new colours departing Kuala Lumpur.

The new colours bears an uncanny resemblence with QF's Wunala Dreaming.

Its an okay idea I guess...

Sorry no screenshots, but what does everybody think of the Project Fokker? Is it worth the memory? Does anybody know when the F28 will be released?

Thanks

I got the PF70/100 packages when they were released at the tail end of last year and was very impressed with it. The only bit of criticism of it I have is the sound pack. It wasn't the best. To me it sounded like a 92 year old kettle!, but overall, like i said, impressive (especially the Virtual Cockpit)

Hoons,

Do u darken your screenshots?, cos they look great!

I might try some darkening with mine and see how they turn out!

Just have to make sure they aren't night shots! If they are... well i might aswell post a blank black bitmap!

Hello Chris,

Adding a bit of contrast improves the screenshot, as well as playing around with the levels. Remember the tips I gave you in the chat room!  Smile

Great shots everyone, and sorry I don't have enough time to comment on all of them, but I enjoy looking at Hoons' awesome shots, Jimmi's crazy flights, and Gkirk's SP models!  tongue  as well as everyone elses shots (Bernd, Chris, UA772IAD, etc)

And leave it to the British to pick awkward time lapses. Sorry Chris, I could not resist!  tongue  (five days as opposed to a week)

I actually think five days is perfect. I was thinking of maybe restricting the number of shots per post, but that might be too cheeky.

I have a question for all of you. When I start my flights my engines are always on. So when I pushback I "pretend" to be turning the engines on. Some time ago I had a nice Azurra Air RJ-100 (or Avro 86 whatever they call it) and I used to turn off the engines, then pushback and then turn them back on... except that when I did this procedure, once I was on my takeoff roll, the a/c would not climb and just stall while the main gear remained on the ground!

So is there a way to start with engines off? If so what would the correct start up sequence be, other than just E+1+2+... and Ctrl+Shift+F4

Thanks!!

Hi Stefano!!!

The correct way would be to start 2 and then 1 on a twin...and 3,4,2,1 on a four holer....  Wink

To start with engines off, I think it works if you save a flight with a "cold" cockpit and save it as your default flight....so when you change the time and departure place, you'll still have cold cockpit.

Please correct me if I am wrong!!!

Or get the A300 cockpit for the SGA/FFX A300...you wouldn't be able to use it without the use of the documents...
I like it a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Big grin

Thanks for the info on engine start-up sequence.

Is it correct to just select the engines and do Ctrl+Shift+F4? Is anything else needed?

Hmmm...I have never tried that before....with the panels I use most, I can go through a "real" start-up sequence...like putting the thrust-levers to idle at 15% in the 707...or engaging the engine selectors at 20% on the pedastal in the A300.

Hello everyone, here is my second attempt...

Aircraft: Convair CV-990 Coronado
Airline: Alaska Airlines
Reg: N987AS
Routing: KSEA-PANC

Parked at the South Satellite, viewed from the vantage point of the arriving baggage truck.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/curlingforever/fsscr020.jpg

Taxiing to the active, as a company 73G and MD-80 hold in deference to their elderly cousin.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/curlingforever/fsscr022.jpg

And...waiting in line behind three WN birds, a Skywest B1900 (in reality, this would be an EMB-120), and a...NW? 757? with more AS traffic in the background.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/curlingforever/fsscr023.jpg

ATC is currently being incompetent and no one in the line has moved for 15 minutes or so   ...if I'm ever cleared to takeoff I'll have the rest of the flight shortly

EDIT: the AI traffic in the queue decided to disappear en masse. Well, I suppose that means less waiting. Here is the takeoff:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/curlingforever/fsscr025.jpg

More to come...maybe

Nice shots Chris. I didn't know DL had soaring spirit on a 72'. Is it just fictional? It still looks nice!

Here are more of the TGD-FRA flight

Final for 7R

Short final. An SK MD-80 coming in from ARN rolling on 7L while a DL 763 waits its turn to go to CVG

Touchdown!

A lot of LH heavies!

This was a flight of Firsts for me- First Flight in an A340, because I normally use the A330. Also it is the first time that I have been on the African Continent.  bouncy
I had a problem though, When I landed, I did the replay to take screenshots. When the replay began there was no landing gear  banghead  so I took no Screenshots. Any of you guys know how to fix it?

In response to #12: What Dulles Scenery did you use? The default scenery doesn't look nearly that good....

Vietnam Airlines VN 841
HAN-VTE (Hanoi Noibai Int'l Airport, Vietnam - Vientiane Wattay Int'l Airport, Laos)
Dep 8:25 arr 9:30
Actual Flight time: 1hr 12m
Depart Rwy 11, Land Rwy 13
Equipment: Fokker 70

A rainy (and empty) Noibai Int'l Airport

Climbing, at around 4000ft AGL.

Passenger window view.

Approaching Wattay Int'l Airport, very foggy conditions. The VASI lights are barely visible.

Arrival. The plane did not exactly land on the centreline, as I disconnected the auto-pilot much earlier.

Parking at the gate.

Overall, I am very impressed with the aircraft. Easy to use, and realistic at the same time. A big thanks to Project Fokker!
