Will AI Aardvark Ever Make Airbus Or MD-80 Family?

Sat Apr 02, 2005 12:52 pm

I was wondering since I really like the Ai aardavrk aircraft, I was wondering if they ever had plans to make airbus and MD-80's? Whenever I download flightplans that contain A340/330's, I just replace them with 747's or whatever is availible.

Yes, right after they finish the Embraer 175/190/195, the 747SP....

Aardvark makes this very clear on their website and in the forum: They make the planes THEY want, when THEY want. Everything is fair game (example, nobody was expecting the E170).

I'd suggest using the FSPainter Airbuses while you wait, they are available on AVSIM and are decent models. It's better than replacing them with a completely different aircraft.

Yes, there are many AI models other than AIA available. I think Aardvark is the best AI designer, but they are certainly not the only one.

BTW, did anyone else see the April Fools news item on the AI Aardvark website?

Quote:
April 1, 2005

A320, A380, EMB-190, MD-80, Learjet 55, Cessna 150, CL-144, 747SP & 737-600 released!

Yes indeed, the aardvarks have been busy! Today we're pleased to release more AI planes than anyone has a right to receive in a single day. There won't be any paintkits released for these planes because paintkits won't be needed! We've painted every single airline livery that has been used by any of these aircraft in the last 30 years. Even the Cessnas! There have been 3 aardvarks living off stale pizza and soft drinks for the last 48 hours while uploading all these models and repaints to flightsim and avsim.

Now the bad news. Unfortunately there was a power surge at Aardvark World Headquarters Ltd. LLC, and the hard drive containing the source files for all these models was fried beyond recognition. We had a choice between purchasing a surge protector or 4 large pizzas with the works, and in retrospect it appears our judgement may have been unduly affected by hunger. Ah well, these things happen! At least we got the files uploaded before the hard drive gave up the ghost. As long as avsim and flightsim don't both manage to lose the files we've uploaded (and what's the chance of that happening?) all is well.

We were going to post pics of all the models and repaints, but unfortunately all those files were zapped when the drive bit the dust. Only one pic remains intact, that of the final 737 in the NG series, the 737-600:

Obviously, the 736 was the only one of those aircraft that they actually released yesterday!  Silly

Long live the A330!

Aardvark have said they were going to make the MD-80 series in the past as a continuation of their great DC-9s, but I think that got shelved for now. As for the A320, EvolveAI, a new groups with a lot of talent, are currently working on an A321 and they probably will continue to make the rest of the A32X family. For now, the FSP Airbuses are pretty good.

FSPainter has some great A330s and A340s which I use, available at AVSim. I suggest you use those because I doubt Aardvark will be making any A330/A340s any time soon.
