Upgrades To PC System

Mon Jul 25, 2005 2:07 am

Hi guys,

I've just worked out that I have approx £200 left over from my holiday money, and I thought about some upgrades to my system.

Any ideas for FS?

I currently have:

Athlon XP 3200+
1gig PC3200
Large hard drive (with lots of space for FS)
GeForce 6600GT AGP
17" TFT (when I pick it up from repair).

Any ideas what I could change, how about A64?

I wouldn't bother with 64-bit chips just yet. Wouldn't want to risk any hardware incompatibilities. Plus, I think there's much cheaper and better ways of improving simulator performance.

If I were you, I'd take a look at some of the graphics cards on offer. I've heard the Radeon 9600 is pretty great. Also, if you have the physical space for it, consider getting another GB of memory. When it comes to simming, you need all the RAM you can get.  Smile

Thanx for that, the only problem I have getting more memory is that I'll need two 1gig sticks as at the moment the ram is dual channel, if I add another stick it'll go back to single channel...

Hmmm, could go for a nice 6800GT Big grin maybe I'll wait cos I'm bound to need a new board at some point, which means PCI-E and a new graphics card  Sad

Ditch your Nvidia vid card. they suck for FS... Radeons are better..

MAybe a 2nd hard drive for other storage and stuff..

How about a dvd burner and some discs?

New joystick/throttle?
