How Do I Do This!?

Wed Aug 24, 2005 3:02 am

Ok, so a longtime ago my Herpa 1:500NG AmericaWest 757-200's nosegear broke off. So I just glued it with a glue gun bcuz I'm to cheap to buy a whole new one. So I just got new replacement landing gear from Herpa. So I heard that heating then end of a needle up and sticking it in the hole to get the excess broken plastic out worked. So I tried that, didn't work. And I tried just picking it out and that didn't work. I really don't want to buy another model when you can fix it yourself. So I would REALLY appreciate any ideas that WORK. Anything that could help me get this new nosegear in the hole and fix it. Thanks.

If it's plastic, you didn't heat the metal enough...plastic melts at high temps. The only other way to get it out is to use a very small drill bit, but unless you really know what you're doing, I wouldn't try it.

I would also take a drill to it myself, but I would only do this if a) your really careful with it and take your time and so on, and b) you have a decent ammount of experience handling your drill so you know exactly what it will do and how it handles. Using a lower setting on it wouldn't hurt either. (in other words don't be like me and go around with the "if it aint full power it aint no fun" idea)
