PSS are crap and HIGHLY unrealistic both in looks and controls.

I would look towards the EuroWings A320 which I have found to be the best so far. Although some freewares do look better.

Save you're money and get a decent A320 or a freeware model.

Why pay for an aircraft when you can get it for free?

-They use the same Technology
-They use the same program

Freeware aircraft don't usually come with sounds, panels or Liveries. That is the only difference and because you are paying you get it all together.

Every single iFDG aircraft is excellent quality and worth it. The PSS model is waaaaaay Crap!!!

Thanks

I have the PSS A320 and I definitely reccomend it. The panel is very functional and realistic, though not on quite the same level as PMDG. Yes, the model is crap but I'd go for the better panel any day. The best option is to merge the PSS panel with iFDG's superb model and get the best of both worlds!

A3204eva, do you know of any good reviews of the Eurosoft A320? I'd like to find out more about it.

I've yet to see a freeware panel that can do anything close to what the PSS panel can. Yeah, the model may not look as good as IFDG, but I fly the plane from the inside, not the outside.

If all you care about is a good model, IFDG is for you. But if you want realism, get the PSS. It's an old product, and there are better payware planes out there (PMDG and Level-D spring to mind, along with Flight1 for GA stuff), but it's still a good investment. I have all the Airbuses, and use them frequently (I spent an hour and a half shooting approaches with the 330 last night), and there's not a better Airbus package out there.

Here's a link to the Flightsim.com review of it when it first came out, in 2002:

http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/review/pssair/pssair.htm

A google search for "Eurosoft A320" came up empty - I'd be interested in hearing more about that.

Sorry for the mistake about the name.

From the screenshots on the website, I find the PSS panel to be much better looking (i.e. more in line with the real thing in terms of proportion, etc.). PSS also has an Airbus' FMC, not an ATR72's.

PSS + points;

*80% of the systems are included
*nice FDE's
*very good MCDU, 90% operational like the real MCDU
*very good frame rates
*incorporated FBW, not the most realistic one, but acceptable!
*CFM/GE/PW/V2500 EICAS supported
*MCDU reads FS9 flightplans and converts it
*support from www.navdata.at
*Throttles are operated with realistic GATE movements
*can be perfectly merged with IFDG/POSKY

PSS - points

*standard exterior model is not the best
*battery and electric operation is not realistic
*no IRS
*no TERR function
*no weather radar
*standard sounds are crap
*no realistic ALPHA FLOOR and flight limitations system

but certainly I recommend it!
most serious - points can be fixed by merges and overall you recieve a nice Airbus feel and look!

I have to agree with Mir that from those screenies, the Eurowings panel doesn't look as realistic as the PSS one. What's with that ATR FMC? Silly

I think SWISSER summed up the PSS 320 pretty well, although many of his negative points can be adressed: The panel can be merged with the iFDG model for a much better exterior look and more realistic sounds can easily be added. AFAIK, there are no add-ons with weather or terrain radar so I don't think that's a specific negative of the PSS panel.

well, the new feelthere B737-classic will have it!
also Dash 8-300 payware has it!

but I do want to express that PSS is really good if you compare it to the real Airbus layout! I have experience on the SN flight academy's "real sim", and compared to it, it is a great product!

I also stumbled on a german software developer who claims to have made a perfect A340 considering systems and especially the FBW, but I was unable to succesfully make contact with the guy...
It included TERR and weather I believe!

search for apollo software A340, I forgot the link...
off course he only got the A340, nothing more.

Thanx for the reply u all.
I started this thread cause I am sort of addicted to FS and I will be doing My type rating on the A320, do you think that a totally functional cockpit and systems for the A320 will be available for FS?

I already have the PMDG 737 NG but I try not to fly it now a days so it wont confuse me with what I learn.

Agreed with the added caveat that the iFDG model merged with the PSS panel is worth the purchase price of the orginal A320 to start with. I also believe it's half price right now too. As for the A330 do the same merge with the Project Opensky models, you won't regret it

PSS is a great way to learn the systems, but for a real feel, you won't be satisfied compared to a real A32S.

Also the climb rating is quite fast on the PSS and the sidestick movement is not 100% a real feel, like the climb maneuvre etc.
for the unprofessional pilot they are no problem at all, but people with real experience notice it!

Maybe check apollo software,
I saw yesterday they have a A320 too!
But still, both PSS and Apollo are for fun, just learning the systems on them is exellent, but flying will always be different.
I did not check apollo yet, but certainly will and comment on it!
(if I' am able to contact that guy!)

True, well very few, anyway.  Smile

No way! Wilco's 320 has been pretty much ignored by the FS community, which says something when it came out after the PSS did, and thusly should be more advanced. Besides - it's only a 320. With PSS you get a 319, 320 and 321.

If you mean as opposed to a yoke, then no - you can use whatever control device you want. If you mean as opposed to the keyboard, then I don't know.

the PSS 'bus will not work with the keyboard.
The Aerosoft 'bus uses the old Dreamfleet FMC which is a 737-400 unit and so not at all related to Airbus technology.

Yes, the PSS 'bus is the best on the market despite being 4 years old.
It shows its age by now of course, but as long as noone brings a new product it will remain where it is, at the very top.

Well if u want to have everything freeware may I kindly suggest all of you to use:

-idfg planes
-have a look at the download page of this website: http://www.geocities.com/giovannicombat/ Youwill find a fs2002 panel which also works for fs2004!

I must admit I wasn't flying any airbuses anymore because all the panels I found were either very crap or just didn't work!  Smile
