MS FS 2004

Wed Oct 12, 2005 2:27 am

I really want to buy FS 2004, not got it yet  Sad

=First, can you tell me if it will run on my laptop.

Spec

-Advent 7065
-Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
-2.99GHz, 448MB of RAM
-MS Win XP Home Edition Version 2002 - Service Pack 2

Ask if you need more info.

=What can I do in FS2004.

e.g
-Can I speak to a fake ATC
-taxing to the terminal
-pushback
-opening/shutting doors
-looking in the cabin
-looking at the wings/out of the window
-looking around the cockpit

Anything else good I can do on FS2004

=Any cheap (£10-£25) Joystick

I would like a cheap joystick (£10-£25) to start with, then I would upgrade when I have money.

-will FS work with a cheap joystick
-any recommendations

=What aircraft come as standard

-what aircraft come as standard with FS
-does it cost meto download of AVSIM etc
-what expansion disc are there / are they any good / your recommendations.

=I found this

-I have just found this what do you think
http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=10368&mid=326870
-I costs the same as FS2004 alone and you are getting two games in one, do you think I should get it.

e.g
-Can I speak to a fake ATC Yes. Or real ATC with Vatsim but that is something for another topic.
-taxing to the terminal yes ofcourse with help from ATC and clearances hold short. everything.
-pushback Yes you dont see the push truck but the plane pushes back like it would.
-opening/shutting doors Yes the main door and on some planes you can open the cargo door too.
-looking in the cabin No. Only some add ons have this and you need active camera.
-looking at the wings/out of the window.
You can download those views to put on your aircraft.
-looking around the cockpit.
Yes ofcourse there is virtual cockpit.

Anything else good I can do on FS2004
Have real IFR flight, have AI traffic, weather.
=Any cheap (£10-£25) Joystick yea sure there is.

I would like a cheap joystick (£10-£25) to start with, then I would upgrade when I have money. Thats a good idea.

-will FS work with a cheap joystick yes.

=What aircraft come as standard
Many. 737-400,747-400,777-300,C172,c152,DC-3,Cessna Caravan,Lear-45 those are just some.

-does it cost meto download of AVSIM etc
No avism is free.
-what expansion disc are there / are they any good / your recommendations.
Traffic 2005 or Ulitmate traffic is great to add more traffic to FS. PMDG 737-700 PSS Dash-8 and Ready For Pushback 742 are great plane add ons but are complicated ones and need time getting used to. Fly default planes first than get some add ons later.
When you first start do the flight lessons first they really help.
As for the computer specs I not sure it sounds like you PC can take it. Maybe want to add some RAM. I have someone else answer that question.

Is there a website where you can buy joysticks, throttles, yokes.

Well first you can always try Ebay for some used and new stuff. After that CH Products.com has some stuff. And your local electronics store should have joysticks.

If you want a good answer if FS9 will run smooth on your laptop, you've got to tell us your graphics card. But considering its a laptop, its probably some MX440 crap or something similar.
Holy sh*ts and burritos.
