Is The Ground Effect Simulated?

Wed Oct 19, 2005 11:40 pm

Either in FS9, X-plane or other simulator, is this effect simulated?

Thanks,

Keta

I think he means the "real" ground effect....!!
The one that will "suck" your aircraft into the ground, when being too low....

However, I don't think that has been implemented in any sim so far....

... or the one which cushions the aircraft and creates more lift as you near the ground. I'm not aware of the one which sucks an aircraft into the ground.

I'm afraid I'm not sure if it's modelled.

Edit: Bully707: sorry about that! (Note to self - read the entire post before responding!)

Yes I was referring to the effect that creates more lift. Thanks guys for your answers.

The famous flare cushion?

Comparing a Level-D A340 flight simulator to the PSS A340, I witness similar effect on flaring, so I guess the PSS add-on does it.
Altough the Level-D is much more sensitive in the way it will get you longer to drop altitude, but again the difference is not much.(much more is the initial climb-out, the PSS climbs like a rocket!)

I haven't done many landings in the original jets of FS9, but I do remember they are always harder!

So I guess some add-on's and aircraft simulate this effect.
What time is top of descent?

Don't be...!!!
It is I who did get things confused and wrote a totally stupid post....  Sad
Sorry...but I was somewhat "lost" and therefor "created" a ground effect that will suck your aircraft into the ground....  banghead

Godspeed

X-plane does in any plane, FS9 doesn't.

I'm lost...

What happened was that I posted in response to Bully707's post about the "sucking" ground effect and thought I was being smart by correcting him. After I'd posted I noticed the rest of his post where he said he wasn't being serious. I had to edit the post to add the apology!

So X-Plane does have it? Man this sim is awesome!
