That model is sick!

In a good way that is ... very, very impressive. If anyone has a link to detailed information about its construction, I would love to read more about it.

The one thing that really boggles my mind though ... why didn't he build a Boeing 747-8?

Lol, only Californians would say something like that. But its true, that model is sick! That would be so fun to try and fly with a remote, probably hella hard though.

Who needs a remote when you can just install a seat inside the plane and ride along  biggrin

Doesn't boggle my mind. The 747-8 was only announced this week.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I hear jet engines powering that thing?! How in the world do you built jet engines that small?! How can you afford?! Which manual teaches you how built minature jet engines? What if you mess up? You could kill yourself!

...Sounds like fun  Smile

Whoever built that model has waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much money and time on their hands. It looks really cool, though.

cloudnine  I want one of those,

You buy them. They are really expensive tho, over $1300 each for fairly powerful ones.

Jet engines scale really well, because they are based on expansion of hot air rather than transfer of power from cylinders.

I figure at least $6000 for all the engines, $3000 for materials (looks like fiberglass mostly) and about $3000 for the electronics.

In case you're wondering, yes this is my hobby....

Guys,

I'm not sure what site, but if you do a Google search, you'd find learjets, L-1011 Tristars (www.flypcm.com), Lufthansa B747-400, and once I even saw an Air France A340. They're out there, mostly in Euorpe, though, as we're usually flying props, and fighters on this side of the pond.

If you look at the third and fourth pictures on that website, the third has the gear down and the fourth has the gear retracted.
