Which Simulator Should I Choose?

Tue Nov 29, 2005 12:11 am

I'm afraid to say that I've blown what was supposed to be a very special Christmas gift - thankfully, the person who's bought it for me doesn't know I know about it - it's a one hour flight simulator experience and I'm already sooooo excited!!

Question is, I can choose whether I want to fly an A320, A330, A340 or a B757 or B767 - what should I go for. I really fancy the 757 or 767 so I can use the yoke but I also wouldn't mind the A330.

Can anyone offer me help in what it a great dilemma to have?

Hello,

I would go for the 757, easy planes to fly and must be a good joy!
Go for it!  Smile

I presume it is Virtual Aviation?

http://www.virtualaviation.co.uk

If it is, then the 737 is also an option. Big grin

If location isn't an issue, then I'd personally LOVE to fly the A320, but if I ended up in anything else I wouldn't be that bothered!!  Wink

I would go with the 757, more flying than with an A320. The cockpit will be laided out better with less LCD screens and all which I find more fun. The yoke would be more fun and 757 throttles also seem more fun too. 757/767 all the way!

Hi there.

I've flown an A340 and A320 simulator and been inside a 744 simulator. In my personal opinion , go for the newest simulator out of the lot. In this case , I would assume its between the A330 and A340. I'd take either one of these since the visuals will be much more realistic than the older 757 , 767 and A320 sims making your experience that much more realistic. Just my personal opinion  Smile. It comes down to your choice of sound , feel and love for the aircraft. If thats the case , I'd opt for the 767.

Have fun!

Out of the choices you've given, I would go for the A340, 4 engines baby! Other then that I'd go for the A330 followed by the B767 and B757.

Many companies, use the same simulator for both the 757 & 767, so, if you go for the 757 option, you can at least say that you were in the 767. As a 2nd choice, I would go with the A320, the smaller the airplane, the better it handles. With the larger aircraft, it takes so much time to make your turns.

Try to get their a little earlier before the sim session and see if they will allow you to use the briefing room, this way you can get a little familar with the cockpit. You don't want to waste to much time, as the first time in a similar, it can be overwhelming.....

If you are going with Virtual Aviation in Gatwick & Luton, I know that they use the 757/767 simulator.

For me, my favorite is the 717 simulator!

The 737NG simulators are very busy, when I was working in Gatwick, the 737NG simulators were over 90% full at Gatwick, Luton, & Manchester...

Oh yeah, since the subject came up, we offer the full flight simulator rides in Long Beach, California, just on the 717 & MD11 simulators.

Pity they don't offer the 744, that would be a blast. I'd go 767 if I were you.

757, in my mind, none of the others (possibly the 767) compare. The 757 is the rocket, ask if you can mimik a Shuttle flight from LHR - MAN.

Never know, if you do a good job might get offered a job to do it for real, hehe!

Guys, thanks for all your recommendations - looks like the 757/767 is the favourite and I think the one I'll go with., even though I keep pulling towards the A340 for the 4 engine thing!

Whatever happens, it won't be until the new year as officially I don't know about it yet! I shall feign surprise on Christmas Day and hopefully have made a concrete decision by then.

I'll be sure to post another thread and let you know if passengers would be safe in my hands (or not as the case may be, I reckon FS could be quite forgiving by comparison!!?!).

Thanks folks!

There are three at Mascot, the 744,743 and 763. But I've heard it takes LOTS of money to get in to these and you might have to go in the middle of the night.

I've been in a Hornet Sim at WLM and that was a blast. I'd pick the 767.
