GeminiJets Suck!

Thu Feb 09, 2006 5:06 am

Hello,
Why does GeminiJets make such bad quality plane models?
The paint comes off and the landing gear break and the wheels get lost.
I have an American Airlines B757 from GeminiJets and when I got it the tail was overweight the front part of the fuselage so the front landing gear did not touch the ground.
Also I bought a JAL B747-400 from GeminiJets and the wings were not properly attached and the engines kept falling off.
Is it just my bad luck or does GeminiJets really suck?

Did anyone else have a bad expirience with GeminiJets?
Ben

I have 7 Gemini Jets, some of which I have had for a couple of years, and they are still in perfect condition, since the day I bought them.

Maybe you should take more care of them! They are not toys!  drunk

Well, while I've never known this to happen with any of the GeminiJets that I have had the pleasure to purchase, have you ever considered that maybe they were knock-offs that you assumed were GeminiJets? Some models by these companies are of terrible quality.

If not, which I think is unlikely, then I'd just say to take better care of them. I still have a Branniff 747SP from five years ago, and she looks just as pristine as ever.

over 50 planes, from wich mostly are geminijets. If you don't take care of them properly they wont last you.they don't suck. You suck on keeping them, kid.
BTW, if you want to ''fix'' the gear to make it more reallistic or to secure it,try doing it over a plate.Works for me....

I only have two Geminijets, a 767 and MD-11 I got for free as rewards for perfect attendance at UPS. I have had them for 2-3 years now and have never had any problems with them. They are displayed and in perfect condition. IMHO they are THE best die-cast model airliners out there today.

No problems at all, although one does have a tendancy to be back-heavy, but the other countless number never had any problems. To me they're the best die-cast models out there!

I only buy Gemini, wont find a better model out there!

What do you do with these models? Throw them to try make them fly? Cant see bits falling off and paint falling off if they just sit on a shelf!

I have 17 GeminiJets, and in my opinion they are THE best models, apart from the Herpa special edition ones. Only once have I recieved a 744 model with a broken landing gear, but a little glue easily fixed it.

Take care of the models, and they will last a long time. And remember, if you got these models sent to you, they may of been damaged in the post.

Ive collected Dragon Wings, Gemini Jets and Herpa (all 1:400), and I have to say that I consider GJ to be the poorer quality of the three.

Looking at a GJ BA 777 and a DW JAL 777, the GJ one just looks lower quality, the engine detail is too shiny among other things - it actually looks as plasticky as they could possibly make it. I certainly prefer DW.

The GJ Easyjet 737 also has balance issues, the two I have of them regularly end up on their tails, the slightest touch sets them off.

The GJ Concorde is one of their better models tho.

I have an Air Canada A320 1/500 Herpa model and it sucks! It doesnt look like a real airbus at all, and it doesnt have those airbus cockpit windows. The wheels are huge plastic wheels. Way too big compared to the rest of the aircraft

You have the previous generation of herpa 1:500. Herpa redesigned all the 1:500 molds with scale landing gear and better lines overall. They have really improved the lines in response to GJ etc. I try to only collect 1:500 due to space limitations in my home. All the recent competion has made for better quality on the market overall.

I like Dragon wings, the wheels are removeable. I am starting to admire the redesigned Herpa jets with the better wheels, but of course I stay way from any DC-10/MD-11 HERPA or the Tristar HERPA, they just cant get em right.

I have no problems with mine - although I only started back in November last year I have 6 and have had no problems whatsoever - very impressed by them and their detail.

Yes, it must be the old generation, but I bought it just a few months ago.

Watch out, it soon gets away from you! I switched from 1:200 to 1:400 around Jan 05, and to date I have ... (quickly counted) 80 models.

I have probably a good 60 1:400 models, mostly GeminiJets with a smattering of Dragon Wings and Aeroclassics. The Geminis are definately the most durable of the whole lot.

I take really good care of my models and when I got the American Airlines B757 and the JAL B747 I took them out of the box and they were already broken. It is not my fault that when I take an airplane out of it's box it is broken.

Well, that's a different matter entirely. In that case, I'd report it to the shipping company. That's not really GeminiJets' fault if the aircraft are damaged during shipping, BTW.

So then when the products were supplied to the retailer they were probably damaged. Take it back to the store perhaps?

I just bought one on Ebay as I have been looking for it for some time. It is the US govt. 757 that is painted in Airforce1 livery. Like other manufacturers the limited runs tend to stay around until they sell out.

I have had the best luck with PeeWeeair on Ebay. Great service and selection. BuChair is also a great Ebay retailer.

I have several Gemini Jet models, as well as Herpa and Dragon, but Gemini's are the best in my opinion. Take better care of your'toys' and they'll be just fine. Mine are new as the day i've bought them, as are many other posters here. so, this should answer your question.

I really like Phoenix models too. IMHO even better than GJ. But agreed, GJ makes fantastic models.

I have a couple of Herpa 1:400, Air Jamaica a343 and Asiana 744 and Qatar a306, and I avoid Herpa 1:400 like a plague now. Bad quality wheels, engines are not right, and there are open seems between the wings and body. I prefer metal wings too, but Dragon makes some pretty accurate models, so I put up with the plastic wings with them.

never had a problem with them, as for the front nose weel off the ground i have also noticed that but it doesnt seem to be any better with herpa or dragon.....it seems to be the worst on 737-300's and 500's or A319's
