1:600 Models And Model Airport

Sat Mar 25, 2006 1:44 pm

I'm building a 1:600 model airport to combat my insomnia. I was wondering if Herpa have started making 1:600 planes yet. If so where in Canada or online can I start buying some?

At the moment I have about 200 1:600 Schabak. As you know many of these are pretty poor quality but I will continue to collect them. If anyone is looking to sell some me please reply or PM me.

I'm presently trying to find a way to effectively light my runway and taxiways. Does anyone have detailed instructions on doing something like this with fibre-optic cable? I ditched the idea of using LEDs, it was a mess.

Thanks in advance.

Yep, Herpa Magic. You can find them at most online model retailers and herpa.de. They have similar landing gear as Schabak's, but like their other models, have no decals. So no "yellowbirds", "Dude, Where's My Door?", and "PAINT ME!!!" planes.

Herpa has a lighting kit, but it's expensive.

What is the difference between 1/144 and 1/500?

I have over 200 Schabak too, I wanna sell the ones that I dont feel like holding onto, incomplete collections etc.

Some still look good.

1/144 is bigger than 1/500 by a tad bit.

144 is bigger than 500. If your 1:500 model is one inch, then it'll be about 3.47 inches in 1:144 scale.

I'd explain it in a different way: You need to put 500 of the 1/500 planes in a row row have the length of the real plane, and you have to put 144 of the 1/144 planes in a row to get the length of the real one. Same with height, width, etc.
