Pmdg 744

Hi all

I know this add-on takes quite a good computer to run it smoothly, but with like the 737NG add-ons you can load up just a 2-D panel which helps slower systems. Can you do the same with PMDG's 747? When I load up the PMDG 737 with only a 2D panel I can avhieve frame rates not much different than the default aircraft, I was wondering if the same may apply to the PMDG 747.

Any feedback welcomed  Smile

You can but it's done differently. You can enable/disable the VC from the PMDG->Options->Model menu. I haven't investigated the frame rate impact but I'd imagine there'd be an improvement since there'd be no reason for disabling it otherwise!

The embarrassing thing is that I had a problem where the VC disappeared when I started the engines. I used to save the flight, reload the aircraft then reload the PMDG Panel. It was some time later that I noticed I could simply use the menu item to get the VC back.  embarrassed

That would be good to do - the VC looks absolutely great, but I don't fly with it, and it really eats my frames.

I haven't been using it recently for the same reason. The frame rate slowly started dropping over a period so I did a clean Windows/FS installation. It didn't help so I suspect overheating - the case fan is intermittent. One of these days I'll get round to replacing it! I don't want to buy any more serious hardware till The Impending Vista and FSX Issues are clearer.  Smile
