What's The Size Of Your FlightSim Files?

Sat May 06, 2006 12:27 pm

There was once a thread that talked about the symtoms of FlightSim addict. One was having a main Flight Simulator folder that took up half the harddrive.

Okay, right-click on the "Start" menu and go up to "Explore." Here you should get a list of all your computer's files. Find your "Microsoft Games" folder (it should be under program files):
C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games (Just replace the forward slashes with back slashes)

Find the folder that says "Flight Simulator." Right-click on it and go down to "Properties." A window should pop up. Go to the "General" tab. Look at the size of your FlightSim files. If your files exceed 7Mb, then you can definatly be classified as a true Flight Simulator addict.

Anyway, post your file size, file size on disk, and number folders within.

Here is what my FS files look like:
Size: 4.06 GB (4,369,122,620 bytes)
Size on disk: 4.14 GB (4,448,579,584 bytes)
Contains: 41,407 Files, 588 Folders

As you can tell, I don't have to much added on to my default FlightSim.

Anyway, how about you? Post your FlightSim file sizes.

Regards,
Btriple7

Size on disk: 24.4 GB (26,277,830,656 bytes)
Contains: 92,064 Files, 3,481 Folders

I just used a program called ACA2005 to pull up the stats on my install:

Number of Aircrafts installed: 337
Number of Aircraft textures (in aircraft.cfg): 4792
Number of Aircraft texture maps: 4765
Number of Aircraft used in Flightplans: 4949

Number of Flightplan files: 29
Number of Airports used in Flightplans: 278856
Number of different Airports used in Flightplans: 26380
Number of Flights: 38529
Number of Legs: 650313

Size of Aircraft map: 10.97GB
Size of Flight Simulator Map: 16.83GB

Much of my install is AI aircraft related (textures and flightplans) but I have recently gotten into the scenery bug.
