I purchased the download version. It is aimed at the less experienced simmer particularly with regards to some of the systems available, which is why I bought it.
I had been using meljet's 777 previously and thought I would try out the Wilco version as it seemed like a good next step for a relative newcomer to flight slimming like myself.
I had never programmed a FMC before and I found this a little daunting at first. I think the Wilco manual could be improved with regard to the FMC, as it appears to assume a level of knowledge which some novices may lack and this product is aimed at less experienced users according to Wilco.
Once I had figured out the basics of the FMC I found it relatively straightforward to programme a route etc. There does not appear to be any way to use the default gps in nav mode so you have to programme a route.
I am trying to learn more about Sids and Stars etc so that I can fully understand the route planning process.
The FMC does have some good features like programmable V speeds, climb rate etc and also altitude call-outs on approach.
Visually I think the model could do with a couple of changes, particularly the height of the undercarriage and the size of the GE90 engines which look out of scale and not as big as the GE90 777's I have seen in real life and in pictures.
These are small points but after using a meljet where the scale looks pretty good it is noticable to me.
I have enjoyed using it however, and I was very proud of my first FMC programmed tranatlantic Heathrow to Kennedy flight which was great including a perfect landing at JFK
in my BA
It does come with a load manager and a fuel planner however I am not sure these are working properly on my set up as I find the fuel required is a little under calculated but that could be something I have done - will post again if I resolve the issue.
All in all and despite the slight issues over the engine and undercarriage sizes I have enjoyed using it. I think it may be a little simplistic for those that like to have all the bells and whistles but as I said before to a relative newcommer like myself it fit's the bill and i now understand a little more about FMC's than I did before.
