Flight Simulater X

Sun Jun 18, 2006 1:16 am

We all probably know about flight simulater X by now. But we do not know what it has to offer besides the graphics. I would like to know what you think will set it apart from fs2004. What would you like to see different from fs2004!

I am hoping that the default aircraft have more details in the cockpits like a overhead and more workable systems including an FMC.

Like a few others when this has come up before, I'm hoping they focus on the framework with better scenery textures, autogen, mesh, ATC, weather and weather effects, etc. There'll be dozens of good freeware aircraft within weeks of FSX being launched and PMDG, Level-D, etc., can provide the top quality aircraft so MS can put more time and effort into the rest.

More Ai planes. More General Aircraft flying around. Improved radio. And a A380 would fit well  Smile

It took me a few seconds....that was HORRIBLE!!! Brilliant! But still horrible!!

Personally I'd like to see the 100K limit go buh bye. Be nice to use SSO 'properly' in FS.

I dont know exactly how it would work, but when an aircraft is talking with ATC, they would have an accent from their own country. For example, Mexicana - a spanish accent, Qantas- an Australian accent and so on... I think that would add a lot to the sim.

Better airports with AI aircrafts and ground activity, better scenery overall.

Nice, but NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

IIRC MS uses uncompressed .wav files for voices. To have .wavs for every accent (or even most) would bloat the install to biblical proportions. Sounds like something A) MS should make an allowance for (but not impliment) B) a 3rd party should take advantage of and let the poor sods who want it spend YEARS downloading it over a dial up connection have it.

Emergency Landings. Its not called a "Simulator" for nothing.

Ground equiptment. Makes an arrival so much more real.

And I think that should apply to a lot of the "extras". As I and several others keep saying, MS should concentrate on the general framework and basics and let specialists supply the fancy bits.

Before we add more planes to the mix, the ATC in MSFS needs to incorporate the concept of "spacing." MSFS ATC has a very nasty habit of placing dissimilar aircraft too close to each other when being vectored for final. I'd also like to be able to have more control over which runway I'm assigned for take-off/landing. Currently, I'm only given an option if there are parallel runways in use.

One other beef is that MSFS ATC has no concept of "Prohibited Airspace." Being given a "fly runway heading" when departing from DCA's runway 1 isn't going to happen.
I lift things up and put them down.
