Interesting Items On Ebay Lately

Sat Jul 22, 2006 2:06 pm

Recently, I have been coming across some very interesting aviation artifacts on ebay. I understand these sort of items (primarily seats) are on the marketplace everyday, but some of them have really caught my attention. Not sure if I can afford any of them, but it's worth a look! Very cool!

AUTHENTIC BRITISH AIRWAYS CONCORDE SEAT-21 OF 500 SEATS

TWA L-1011 FLIGHT ATTENDANT JUMP SEAT

B727 FLIGHT ATTENDANT BAR / MEAL CART

Airplane Seats, Airline Seats, Home Theater Seats

TWA L-1011 COACH SEATS

Plently more I'd like to point out that are hidden in the listings... Perhaps if you come across something of interest, go ahead and share it in this thread!

In the late 1980s there used to be a store in Denver called Factory Surplus and he was selling airplane seats from the 60s for $100.00 for three. I guess I missed my chance. I thought $100 was to high! Guess I was wrong.

I think $300 plus is rather stiff. I would think that there are mountains of airplane seats lying around and that the scrap value would be close to nothing. About how many passenger planes are scrapped or converted in frieghters every year? Do they reuse seats? I can't imagine demand being all that high either. I am sure plenty of people would want them, but not enought to outpace the supply.

I bought a set of 4 747 airplane seats off of Ebay, for $300. It certainly adds to my airplane themed room.  Smile

A while back I saw some old runway lights from PDX up for sale on ebay. They were pretty cheap, but what would someone do with old runway lights?

You could put them out in your yard for walkway lights. If you found them too bright you could figure out a way to run a lower wattage/voltage bulb in them. I think that would be cool!

I got an AA galley cart last year for around $100 with shipping. I also got a pair of awesome VS economy seats from a 747 (also $100 with shipping). You can see pics here (http://community.webshots.com/album/430480911EcHvcS) and here (http://community.webshots.com/album/441750694uqlTGW).

That Concorde seat is awesome, but for $6,600, I think I'll pass.

Up for grabs right now:

BOEING B-52 STRATOFORTRESS COCKPIT

That is bit stiff for what you get. Last year a friend of mine was negoating for a B-52 simulator. The guy wanted $50,000 and my buddy wanted to give him $38,000. because transport was rather high. The guy wouldn't budge. So no deal. But that would have been cool. It was operational and everything.
