A Horrible Thing Happened To My Gemini's & Dragons

Tue Oct 03, 2006 10:34 am

OMG! I am so upset! I have or should I say HAD an entire shelf that contained the complete collection of Delta widget jets from Dragon and Gemini. Well the other day my f*&%ing cat decided to jump onto this shelf and brought the entire thing crashing to the floor. Needless to say my very precious (to me) collection is now in shambles. Broken gear, detached engines and wings....
I am totally heart broken.
Can anybody recommend the proper glue to get them back together?
They are all currently in the maintenance hangar awaiting repair.
Please help! I really loved my collection and would like to try and put it back together again. Unfortunately the 767-300 got a big chunk knocked out of his radome so I will probably have to find another one  Sad

My Gemini Jets always lose tails and gear. Some Proxy Glue I believe should fix it. At Hobby Lobby and walmart you can get it. $4.99 IIRC.

Good Luck!

I had a similar incident not too long ago, although it was just gravity and not my cats that caused it. Luckily the damage wasn't too bad, the horizontal stabilizers on all my t-tails fell off, lost tires on my Dragon Wings (thankfully they include spares), a few snapped gears on my Geminis, and a couple dropped engines. I just used standard run-of-the-mill Krazy Glue to fix them, and aside from the nose gear on one 777 which I got for cheap anyways, you can't tell anything happened.

The worst part is that most of my planes are stored in their boxes for now until I can buy a better shelf for them.

You could also try CA Glue, which you can get at any Hobby Store. There are several different strengths available, and is similar, but more powerful than super glue. I think they make some CA+ or something like that. Really nasty stuff though, deffinatly glue outside as the vapors can choke you up and burn your eyes.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear about it.  Sad

Basically any kind of epoxy glue that requires mixing will do the job nicely, though some of the hobby glues mentioned above may be slightly better suited to your needs. Good luck!

I know what you mean though. I was so excied once whe my TWA 727 arrived and I opened the box only to find it had broken gear  Sad
One of my Southwest Dragons had a nice bent wing when I opened the box too. Bummer.

I feel your pain. My mint-condition Herpa Premium Emirates A300 is sitting in a cubbyhole in my home office, and last week I discovered engine #1 sitting neatly on the shelf next to it. Nobody has fessed up yet, I think they know there would be a death sentence immediately upon confession. The theory my wife is trying to sell me on is that "It just broke itself while sitting on the shelf"...  bomb

I thought about trying C/A glue - but be careful - some types of C/A will leave a big white spot around the glued area. I will likely try to find some quick setting epoxy (30 seconds) and try to glue it that way. I'll let you guys know how that turns out, maybe you can try it on your fleet.

Good luck, and lock that damned cat out!!
