Well, I like both very much. I like Gemini because the are entirely made of metal, and usually a bit cheaper than Dragon Wings, but OTOH DW models have more detail on them. I have no DW 747's, I do have a Herpa Asiana 744 (not very good unfortunately), gemini BA 744, KL 742, Phoenix Models Surinam Airways 743, aero classics Garuda 742, Netmodels MH 744 and a Blue Box cathay 744. Of those the Herpa and netmodels 747's are my least favorite and the Gemini my most favorite. When I buy models though, I usually look exclusive at Phoenix, Gemini and Dragon wings, unless another manufacturer has an aircraft I REALLY want (like the CX 744 and MH 744, which is the hibiscus livery)

Between the two, I think Gemini has the better mould. Also, if you're getting the new Thai colors, Gemini matches them better than Dragon, on the MD-11 at least.

But if you want the best 747 mould, go with Big Bird. From what I understand, they're out of business, so they aren't making any new models, but you can still find their old models in many shops and on eBay.

Big Bird use the Gemini mould IIRC.

Dragon's newer 744s are lovely, but Phoenix make the best 747s I think.

777 - Phoenix
MD11 - Gemini
DC10 - Dragon
Tristar - Dragon/Jet-X
767 - Aeroclassics
A330 - Gemini
A340 - Gemini
A320 series - Gemini
737 - Gemini
ERJ - Gemini
757 - Dragon
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

Unless things changed, Big Bird and Gemini have very different moulds, and Big Bird's moulds have much more detail (antennae on the wings of the -100 and -200 for one)

It's funny that my preferences on moulds are almost all different than yours, but as with most things in life, to each his own, no one's preferences are more correct than anybody else's. It all comes down to what the collector finds more important in a mould, be it overall feel, fine details, or whatever.

i prefer Geminijets, all metal, as opposed to DW's plastic breakable wings and landing gear(set it down hard, and youll loose a wheel.....)

Gemini has that too, Phoeniz sadly doesn't. I have a KLM 742 (Gemini) and a Garuda 742 (Aero Classics) both with the antennae and a Phoenix Surinam Airways 743 without the antennae. I also found that the Phoenix 747 tend to tilt backward a bit, leaving the nosegear in the air. Ohter than the 747, I really love the Phoenix models though.

Is that a relatively new change? I have a couple 747-100's and -200's from Gemini and they don't have them.

Either way, I'll still stand by my original opinion that the OP should get the Gemini Thai over the Dragon Wings one.

The KLM 742 is indeed relatively new. It's from march 2006. So I guess that would make it an improvement from Gemini. I also saw that the new Frontier a319 they are bringing out even has the IFE hump on the roof. I have a Dragon a319 from Frontier, without that hmp. It seems like Gemini is improving their models (with rolling wheels now too, just like Blue Box)

Your welcome.. So what do you think of them. IMHO you can't really go wrong with Gemini or Dragon.
