New Model Idea, What Do You Think?

Fri Oct 27, 2006 11:01 am

Heres an idea for a new style of aircraft model. So most 1:400, 1:250 and 1:500 (and some others) models come with gear down. Now i think it would be cool if some models came out with flaps down. if you think about it a lot of the time the gear is down the flaps are as well. I dont know about anyone else but a 1:400 747-400 with full flaps would look pretty cool. you could even have one with speed brakes and reverse thrust.

does anyone know if any model company has tried this? or does this idea sound completely stupid?

I think that would be pretty cool to see. It has some potential. Call Corgi, the best in the model industry.

i heard a rumor about herpa is developing some 1:200 with LED installed inside the a/c, with transparent windows, so it could light up.

Hong Kong is not China. Not better or worse, just different.

Personally, I'd love to see some models with flaps out or even with thrust reversers and spoilers. Would look great on a 1:400/1:500 scale model or even a 1:200 scale.

Sounds expensive.
How about working nav. lights or illuminated cabins? I remember a Star Trek Enterprise model back in the '60's that had working nav lights. I believe it was made be AMT.

with thrust reversers

That would be cool.  yes

If so, it would be easy to install a strand of optic fibre from the light source for landing lights.
Nav. lights would need to strobe to be realistic.

If it happens, you'll hear it here first! Stay tuned.  Wink

By painting a MD-11 doors black you are effectively making them look open as they are up-an-overs. So should be easy enough to do. There is a 1/200 herpa A320 in AIr Berlin colours with open doors(same idea as above and so called opening cargo doors also. seems to be the way forward.
