Show And Tell: Airplane Drawings By A.net Members

Fri Dec 29, 2006 9:51 am

Below is my drawing of an American Airlines MD-80 "Super 80" taking off at sunny Palm Springs International Airport, barely missing the palm tree and climbing to the top of mountains as one lady looks on. It took me just 5 minutes to draw this:

Here is my new drawing of Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 descending to sunny state of Arizona, preparing for smooth landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Phoenix is known for its cactus trees. The plane had just descended through few patchy clouds. PHX air traffic control center is in close contact with the pilots of the plane, meanwhile one family car is speeding to get to the airport to meet and pick up one passenger on the flight.

Looks to me like it's landing at MDW, the car will be right under the plane in a minute  Wink

Here's one I did at work this summer. Airline name comes from my username, and I made up the logo (which ABX stole from me and modified, haha, if you look at their new livery). Forgive the folds, and the quality, it's hanging on my wall and I just took a picture of it.

The plane shouldn't be that long and skinny, but I edited it in Photoshop and it got stretched when cropped for some reason. Photoshop's never done that to me and I can't get it to stop. I probably just need to re-start my computer but I'm too lazy.

Nice, guys! Are you both left-handed? Because I am, and apparently left-handed people draw planes with the nose to the right, and right-handed people put the nose to the left. Just curious.

Neat art folks.

I am right handed.

Here is another drawing from me this morning. A jetBlue Airbus A-320 on a transcontinental flight from Long Beach, California to New York City (JFK). During the flight, the plane was flying in a thunderstorm and got hit by a lighting. An unidentified plane is seen flying in the background. The flight path crosses the diverse city of San Francisco, a ranch farm in South Dakota, the Rockies in Colorado (a skier can be seen skiing), the famous Arch in St. Louis, and a small Catholic church in Ohio before reaching final destination in New York City where the Statue of Liberty is located.

I've got no examples to show you guys, however I'm right handed and when I draw an aircraft it's always nose left tail right.

I can draw aircraft with both my left hand and right hand but I can only write and draw other things with my right hand.
That's why the nose of the aircraft can be to the right or left on my drawings.

Here's the example in the other direction. It's meant to be an A350-800XWB

I drew this between 2 and 4 years ago...can't remember exactly when. It's an A342, despite the soot (I went a bit overboard with the exhaust).

Haha...I wish I drew aircraft more. I have a drawing in the works of a BA 777 during final approach. The angle is really tricky.

Very nice, but it looks like the nose gear is a little off center, but maybe not. I like the exhaust smoke, it's a nice touch.
