Easier Ways At AFCADs

Fri Feb 23, 2007 9:39 am

Ok, I downloaded some scenery for Cleveland and there was no afcad file for it. So for the past hour or so, I've been going through and putting the gate placement in the correct possition through afcad editor, but its taking forever!! Is there an easier way to do it or am I totaly screwed?

A lot of times if you download scenery, there will be an Afcad available separately. Sometimes by the scenery designer or someone who has done the hard work like you are doing now. If you search through all the KCLE Afcads available they will usually say something like Afcad for "John Smiths" excellent Cleveland scenery.

Good luck and hope you find something because I hate doing my own as you said, to do it right it takes forever.

If you use the FS slew function an afcad you can use the keyboard shortcuts to create nodes and parking spots etc. It's very easy and quick. Just move along all taxiways, pressing . every couple of meters and then connect the dots in afcad. Or if you just want to create parking spots, move your aircaft to the desired spot with the right heading and then press o to create a parking spot.

Didn't look hard enough then eh?!

A little tip and trick when looking for stuff, which always works for me.

When you come to doing a search for something, say for example, I wanted to find an AFCAD for Philadelphia Airport, I would type in the search bar KPHL and then select from the drop down menu "FS2004 AFCAD files". It will bring up tons of them. I wouldn't type in PHL cos the chances are much more reduced of finding any.

Hope that helps for future reference.

Yeah I went through quite a few of those in my search, a few including the file name and everything. No like I'm pretty good with finding pretty much anything I want on the internet lol. I'm not really sure why I couldnt find it...
