AI Traffic Help

Fri Apr 13, 2007 9:14 am

I am using the Ultimate Traffic software, i am quite pleased by the multitude of airlines and relatively busy airports. However i am unstatisfied with the quality of the Aircraft supplied.

What must i do to get better aircraft, i have heard of downloading aircraft from other websites, but do i have to download an airplane for every single airline? How can i solve my problems?

RE: AI Traffic Help

There are numerous freeware modellers who design aircrafts intended for AI use. In the beginning it was pretty much just Project AI, but they were followed up by a japanese duo (FSPainter & Tsumomuto Urakawa) and they in turn were followed by the AI Aardvark group, which pretty much set a standard for all AI Aircrafts. AIA however, shut down a little over a year ago (their main modeller released the B737-900ER on the 1st anniversary) so at the moment, the primary AI modelling groups are EvolveAI and The Fruit Stand with groups such as JBAI, Henry Tomkiewitz & others augmenting them.

As for your question, there are pretty much 2 ways of doing it - you can either download each aircraft by itself & assign them to the flightplans (I believe UT has a tool for this) or you can download the World of AI packages (which contains single airline fleets), install them (make sure you delete the traffic BGL file that gets installed as well unless you want 2 aircrafts flying on all the routes) and then assign. The advantage of World of AI is that they're using the premium models (not sure if they've released any packages for the Fruit Stand 777's though) with the premium repaints (GREAT attention to detail) and with all permissions in place.

For the AI Aardvark repaint list (it hasn't been updated for a little over a year, but most of the majors are there): - remember you can get most of the base models by downloading the FS9 update ( at AVSIM).
EvolveAI are currently developing a new website, so they haven't got a list up at the moment, but if you search for EvolveAI at AVSIM you should be able to find something.
JBAI are apparently working on loads of models, but for their current ones (The Dornier 328 should be of most interest) you can find most of their files here:
Henry Tomkiewitz has done mostly GA jets & props, but if you for some reason need some of those, you can find the base packs here: - repaints are scattered all over AVSIM.
The Fruit Stand is a relatively new group, but they have some of the best repainters & modeller(s) on board, and their aircraft list can be found at:

And if it looks a bit daunting, I can only assure you that you have no idea what lies ahead :-P - I've been installing my AI by hand for a while now & it's a job that's never done

EDIT: Darned if I didn't forget the World of AI link:
