Nvidia 9800GX2

Mon May 05, 2008 11:47 am

So, I bought one a few days ago, and it should be here today.

Anyone have this card that can report on it? From what I've seen online, its a monster.  drool

Once I get FSX running, I'll give some benchmarks, screenies, ect. hyper

I know that they're very powerful cards and myself am slightly envious of you Big grin

You are running Vista aren't you? You can't not have that running on DX10.

Nope, still running XP. My sister's computer has Vista, and I can't stand it. Maybe its just her version, but I'm still wary.

What version is it?

I can't stand Vista Basic as it's just too, well Basic.

there you go, She has the (very) basic package, and its terrible. I think I'll stick with XP for a while, at least I'm used to that one. Big grin

Vista Basic is cheap and tacky, not the one anybody should have on their computers Big grin

My aunt got herself a laptop a few months back. That's on vista and her old computer is on Windows 95. Now that's a change!

Yeah, the 9800GX 2 will only give really good performance on Vista, i run it on ultimate and im running FSX at 100fps. Less when i'm running high performance scenery.

Hmm... Vista Basic is like the same as Vista Premium on everyday use. The main difference is that Aero Glass is not present in Vista Basic. Everything else is the same.

Yes, it doesn't burn CDs.. but then there's Nero or Roxio.
It doesn't do Remote Desktop, but there's RealVNC
It doesn't play DVD's... but then there's WinDVD or PCDVD... and VLC Media Player.
It doesn't do MediaCenter, but there's Nero Home, BeyondMedia...
and etc.

And for the card, I also envy you! This was back in May... what happened? Did it worked as expeced?
