Why Is Air France So Popular...

Thu Feb 12, 2009 7:07 pm

...among diecast model and timetable collectors?

In my selling and buying experiences on ebay, I have noticed that anything Air France in the above-mentioned categories seems to be in especially high demand and typically sells at above average prices when compared to similar items of other major airlines (ie same aircraft types and time periods).

Why the seemingly almost "cult like" interest in Air France diecast airliner models and timetables?

Maybe the only airline where logo and name still fit together. Biggest airline in Europe. One of the two best managed airlines. Good food and wine. And easy to wash.

Quoting Burkhard (Reply 1):
And easy to wash.

Then why the reputation Air France has established by consensus at a.net for having aircraft that are notoriously dirty? Wink

They are. It may be because they have so much white even in areas which usually gets dirty, I just came along an AF A320 a few days ago and it just looked dirty, despite the hard rain it was in.

Probably because; its a well known brand, it operated one of the most famouse aircraft (Concorde), its a national symbol and the most obvious one is the livery is so easy to make, that its like a cost saving idea!
