Editing Active Runways FS9

Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:01 pm

Hi all,

Just had a question about editing the active runways in FS9. For example at KROC there is the active runway 4/22 but there is also a crosswind runway 10/28 that is used for props but also used by jets when there are heavy crosswinds on 4/22. I was trying to search and find how to edit the AFCAD for KROC and get AI aircraft to use 10/28 sometimes when the weather calls for it. Anyone know how to do this? Is it done in the AFCAD editor?

I would say your best bet would be to use AFCAD, and double click on runway 10/28. Make sure the check boxes to close the runway to takeoffs and landings are not checked (make sure you do it for each end). Other than that, my only guess is for the computer, the runway isn't long enough? 5,500 feet should be long enough, so I'd start there, and then we can see if there's anything wrong elsewhere.

Cheers,

I did check all that and it is as you say. This is what I cant figure out......using runways 36 and 27 as a example at airport xyz. if the wind is blowing 360 @ 15 you listen to the atis and it says landing and departing runway 36. I switch the wind to 270 @ 15 and it still says landing and departing runway 36.....why will it not switch to 27? Im trying to do this at KROC but the runways are 22 (the one always in use) and 28 (the one I want in use when the winds are right down the center)....if that makes sence.

There exists a limitation for MSFS when in comes to active runways. If a runway intersects another runway at a certain angle or greater ( not sure what it is), regardless of winds. You would have to use AFCAD to close of one runway, and open up another.
Simply put you have to close of 4/22 if you want to use 10/28 and vice versa.
