Some Help Requested With FS9 Please...

Tue Jul 07, 2009 2:41 pm

I am playing fs9 for some time now and things are getting better and better, but there still some issues that need to be solved...

Maybe first some introduction. For the time being I only fly Boeing aircraft, since they are all more or less equal to each other when using the not so much developed add-ons. I fly the default 734, the Posky JAF 738 and CO 764/772. Mostly intra-Europe flights, sometimes a TATL flight or an intra-US flight.

One of the issues I have is adding add-ons. The JAF 738 f.e. has the 2D panel view on it, but no 3D-cockpitview. When I donwloaded the plane it used the default 734 panel, but I switched to a 738 panel. In both cases when I switch to 'cockpit view' I see an empty image of the world in front of me. When I turn the view, I get to see the landing gears, wings and engines, but nothing else. How can this be solved?

When I try to add other add-ons I often can't even install them. I do everything the read me-files tell me to do, but sometimes the plane doesn't even show up or it shows up with a panel missing gauges etc. This is kinda frustrating. When there is an installer included, there is no problem of course, but when you have to unzip files and place them in the right folder, these problems occur even when I do step by step as instructed.

I skipped the learning center because I wanted to fly as soon as possible. Taking off and flying aint a problem, but landing is kind of. Via this forum I already learned how to perform an ILS landing but since I fly the Posky JAF 738 to leisure destinations most of the times, I regularly have to land at non-ILS airports. This is kind of problematic. I manage to land most of the times but I wouldn't want to be a passenger on such flight  Wink and sometimes I even land on the grass which is not much of a problem in FS but not very realistic and since we all want to put as much realism as possible in our FS adventures... So is there a visual trick to land on the centerline of the runway? I must say that I always use the A/P to perform a landing thus switching the HDG button to line up with the runway.

Another issue I am having is with pushback. When I push 'SHIFT+P' I immediately have to push '1' or '2' because otherwise the plane doesn't turn at all. If I do so, however, it turns way to early and not on the taxilines, sometimes resulting in hitting a nearby plane. Is this a bug everyone has?

Three more questions to go  Wink

How can you change flightplans for A.I. airplanes? Most of the time I fly from BRU, but standing next to 6 Continental a/c (from which a CO 727 in old c/s) is not realistic for BRU  Wink (Although I wish it would be  Smile ) or having two UA 747's and a NW 747 as well...

If you change the pictures of a plane in the texture folder, does it change in the game as well or does the image on the plane just get disturbed resulting in an all grey plane without details?

At last two questions about add-ons: does anyone know where I can find the Brussels Airlines livery for the Simmer's Sky A330? I know I have seen it somewhere, but I believe it was on Avsim and since their library is down I can't find it again. I also would like to have a skin for the A319 as well and the 734. And finally I would love to get a repaint for the 763 wearing JAF's colors.

I know these are a lot of question, but I hope someone could provide me with answers since I'd love to make my FS as realistic as possible.

Thanks!

I don't have definite answers for all your questions, but here's a few.

Quoting Conti764 (Thread starter):
but no 3D-cockpitview

This is the virtual cockpit. It's built into each model, so this package doesn't have it. Many of the POSKY packages don't come default with the VC.

Quoting Conti764 (Thread starter):
not on the taxilines

The defualt FS9 pushback system won't line you up. The only program that will line you up with the taxiway is Aerosoft's AES.

Don't worry about changing them yourself. It's too much work. Download the packages (currently off of Flightsim.com as AVSIM is down. you'll need a free registration) from World of AI.

As stated above Virtual Cockpits are part of the models not the panel. Most add on's dont have virtual cockpits not anything you can do about that.

Dont extract them drag every folder into the correct place one by one. When ever I do this my add on's work 95% of the time. When I used to use win zip or something they would always mess up. Also make sure you have a new version of FSUIPC just google it and download it you dont need to get the pay version for add on's.

Well first you can use NAV hold for landing with the default planes and most add on's. Put the NAV/GPS to GPS and place the approach in the GPS and the autopilot will line you up pretty well. As to why your landing on the grass I have no idea I never had a problem like that. You have a joystick I assume? Do you have rudder control on that joystick? Just try to get the left center part of the panel down the middle of the runway on the centre line. This is where the nose wheel is on most airplanes. Also take the plane down nice and slow with flaps etc.. 737 landings around 130knots. Just practice practice practice no other way to do it.

I guess it is mostly due to inexperience with manual landings. I guess I'll have to work on my landing skills  Wink I never get lined up well, I either go too far out or too tight in.
