I've viewed all available 777 FS9 add-on's and can't really find an adequate sim that I'd be willing to drop $40 on. The payware 777's from Wilco, PSS
, and simmer's sky just don't seem worth it. The Wilco panel and VC
look nice, which makes it the number one option for me, but the exterior model doesn't look good, and the only model offered is the -200ER with GE
engines and limited (but free) livery options.
I recently downloaded the POSKY 777-200LR in new DL
colors, and it looks great, but it has C172 sounds and handles like the default 777 (which is completely unrealistic).
What I'd really like is a great exterior model combined with accurate flight dynamics, a fully functioning, realistic 2d panel, and a good VC
. So, I'm thinking about attempting to download the Wilco 777 and merge it with POSKY's exterior model. I have Wilco's E-jet series and Legacy, which are both nice. Airbus Series one is decent, but their Airbus Series 2 (the heavies) are greatly lacking in flight dynamics and visual model. CLS's A330/340 series is a much better product, imo, as I have both.
So here are my questions.
1) Is Wilco's 777 any good, despite it's exterior model? I'm most concerned about the flight dynamics, because I trust that the panel and VC
are decent. I'm not looking to have a 100% functioning FMS and systems...I just like to have fun on Flight Sim, and not try to learn new aircraft beyond basic funtions.
2) Would it be worth it for me to purchase Wilco's 777 and attempt to merge it with POSKY's visual model?
3) If so, how would I go about doing this? What I'd really like to do is keep the entire Wilco package and integrate POSKY's visual model ONLY. Even Wilco's 777 performs a bit better than it should, I am good at editing .air files to tweak handling to my standards.
It's a shame that a developer would go through so much effort to create a solid product, and then neglect the visual model. POSKY makes their models for free, and they typically look just as good as any payware product. Unfortunately, their visuals are the best thing.
I'd really appreciate any input, especially about the possible merge Wilco/POSKY merge.
