Does Snakes On A Plane Have Any Real Truth.

Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:47 am

In the movie Snakes On a Plane does it have any real truth behind it, by that I mean could snakes take out the power and survive or on a 747-400 could the pilot access the cargo hold directly from the cockpit or could the snakes access the cabin by climbing through the walls and then going through air vents and bite people. Any other things that are faculty inaccurate?

Well for starts, the flight deck is directly above the lower deck pax cabin, not the cargo hold (first class on QF 747s, don't know about most other airlines) - so no, you can't access cargo direct from the flight deck.

The main avionics bay can be accessed from a hatch in the front pax cabin, and from memory you can access forward cargo from a door in the avionics bay... don't recall any other entries to the cargo hold from the cabin.

The whole movie is a farse, as with all things aviation related from hollywood.

I only saw the end of the film. Right about when I heard the "500" call-out and the pilot said "Flaps 40"  Yeah sure

This was a while ago but you get the idea.

In regards to snakes, I think it is very unlikely unless a hole in the wall allowed them access, but even then I am not sure.

To be fair, I think this farce was intentional.

And while snakes theoretically could access the passenger cabin, I seriously doubt they'd go on a murdering rampage.

Yes...we had palettes from China come in air freight and delivered to our warehouse...I found a snake slithering around between two shipments...it was not the indigenous kind I typically see in New York....Oh...and one scorpion!...j

I really liked Snakes on a Plane! Course it wouldn't happen in real life but it was still good.

It was intentional....the whole movie was pitched as a joke. The producers of it were in a bar and started coming up with ideas for a really bad movie on a napkin, hence Snakes on Plane was born.
