FS/X-Plane Screenshots V. 5- Trijet Edition!

Wed Apr 14, 2010 11:30 pm

Well, the old thread was slowing my computer down again (the way it always does by that point   ), so here's the ew one. Thanks to a suggestion from kevinl1011, I decided to label this the Trijet Edition (yeah, I know mine aren't all 3-holers, but it would be cool to focus on them just for once!). Thanks, and as always, keep the good stuff coming!

To start:

Er...it was actually the Batman who suggested 3-holers. But hey, if it involves the Tri-Star, bring it on!

I would actually like to see some rotary wingers!

...and where's that DL L-1011?

OK - if it's tri-jets we want, then it's tri-jets we're going to get!!!

No three holers or helichoppers, but here are some moments from a flight in my e-Go (light sport / de regulated class currently in development) in the Misty Mountains...er...Swiss Alps.

Flying through the deep valleys
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/greenskintau/alps1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/greenskintau/alps2.jpg

The ridge may look high, but this thing climbs like a whippet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/greenskintau/alps4.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/greenskintau/alps6.jpg

Descending on full airbrake and idle throttle
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/greenskintau/alps7.jpg

Landing in a stiff crosswind. The screenprint isn't clear, but look carefully and you may see the rudders are both deflected outwards to act as airbrakes.

Hello FatmirJusufi

Specs as follows:

Vista 32bit, 2.40 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2046 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX.
I roughly get between 25 and 30 fps shown on those screenshots. I rarely fly in big cities (LHR/JFK etc) as I much prefer islands etc.

Another couple of screenies taken today:

Man, it almost seems pointless for me to post any more. Granite's stuff is that good.

But hey, i'll tell ya what. Guys like Luftfahrer, Ultimate Delta and BAW076 have all posted some great stuff in Vol.4. I still love your PA L-1011 shot. Got any more? Cpd has yet to post a shot from his recently aquired FSX Concorde. He could shut down one engine and be a Tri-Jet, right? Heck, why not even an ERJ-145 with the APU running. Tri-Jet, no?    ACDC8 still owes us a screenshot from his new rig. And I love how Aerdingus composes her shots besides being the only woman who posts here with us knuckleheads. I think that's pretty   .

So doggone it, let's keep 'em coming. I'm going to set all my graphics to max and even if I can get 1fp a minute, maybe there'll be something close to Garys.

Well, I got myself a new rig the other day (laptop) and decided to see how well it would run FSX. It turns out that it runs it extremely well...it's kind-of a "beast" :

ASUS G73JH-X3 Laptop Computer (17.3" screen)
Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
8GB of DDR3 1066MHz Memory
ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics (1GB DDR5 discrete graphics memory)
640GB Hard drive (7200 RPM)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Integrated Audio ; Audio Chipset: EAX 4.0 3D surround

Here are the first screen shots with it...(of course it's a beautiful three-holer)

Hi all

I don't use the Bloom effect on FSX as it make my frame rate drop a good bit.

Kevin, all my screenies are at 1920 wide so if you mail me your email address I can send you a full res of the TWA 727.

Thats an industrial secret

No really, I used a freeware tool called FS Recorder, set myself up with the B2, recorded 2 minutes of sitting on the ramp, got the M out, played the B2 as traffic so to position myself, recorded 2 minutes again, and repeated such until choosing Trident, at which point FS freezed on me and I decided to call it a day, play all the planes at once, and took screenshots

Excellent choices, you are the Tri-Jet "Meister" ! It must be tough for you when choosing what sim to fly.

I've been flying the Flight1 727 for FS9 for a long time, but now decided to pick up the 727 Captain (Captain Sim) for FSX. Here, I'm taking a short hop from Bozeman to Great Falls Montana in the -100 UDF version:

Some random shots, seeing as I have neglected FS9 after installing tons of mods. No editing whatsoever in the pictures.

FS9 mods:
Ground environment pro
Active sky
ENBseries HDR mod
A combination of runway/lights other texture mods

Got any more? Cpd has yet to post a shot from his recently aquired FSX Concorde.

No can do - FSX is crashing a lot. I did some performance optimisation so that around LHR, the framerates would be 25fps. But now it just crashes immediately. It's not FSUIPC related - unsure what else is causing it.

I did use the affinity=7 tweak in FSX.CFG, might reverse that.   I've tried debugging the problem, but to no avail.

Quoting kevinl1011 (Reply 9):
I wonder if this is actually possible. Make sure the food service carts are stowed!

Before my system started crashing in FSX, I did that a few times with Concorde. First time a barrel roll, then a simple roll with the elevons. And then another barrel roll. It was really easy. Just pay attention to the G forces (there is a dial that shows this) and speed. As soon as you go over the top, throttle back quickly. Yes, in real life, Concorde did a few barrel rolls too, mainly by Mr Jean Franchi, but also one of the UK based test pilots did a roll too.

Yes, it was a real project, and they did use a 727 as a testbed. If you want to read some history about the UDF, check this out:

It is...it's a 727! What's not to love, right?   The UDF is only one of many models that come with the 727 Captain. Good stuff.

Great cockpit shot! Looks like you're on short final to SFO.
Your system is awesome but what resolution are the screenshots? It seems that you should be able to get shots like granite posted. I notice that even the shots I posted are fuzzier here than in my photo bucket. Maybe granite can give us some tips?
