No. A Geforce 330 is absolutely no 3D card, it is for static 2 D and low resolution animated 2 D. The second digit of the vidieo card should be a 5 absolutely minimum, 7 recommended, 8 optimal.

Yea no way will that system run FSX at any decent settings if at all.

Honestly, the only problem I see is the video card. All the other specs look fine in my eyes.

If you can find a similar system with a real graphics card you should be golden.

The video car is a disaster but you think the i5-450 is good enough? What type of FPS would one expect with that.

Oh silly me I overlooked that.

Yeah, I doubt FSX would be smooth fully maxed out even with a good video card. But it would be playable at medium settings I presume.

OP, get at the very least a Core i7, from the*QM series. And ask yourself this: do you REALLY, I mean, REALLY need a laptop? I know way too many people that waste money on a laptop only to have it sitting on their desk all it's useful life

Desktops will always outperform laptops dollar for dollar and are easier to upgrade.

Yes very true. Unless this is your only computer and you need it for work etc.. Get a desktop you can get a much more powerful desktop for probably half the price a laptop with the same specs would cost.

I have look at the desktop option, but being a student living in a dorm, a laptop seems really feasible. Not only for fsx but for class also.

I survived all throughout a VERY demanding college without a laptop, and I rarely saw laptops in a classroom, but I saw MANY laptops that never left the dorm desk  Yeah sure

Tell ya what, build (or buy) yourself a decent desktop, and with the money you'd save vs buying a full blown laptop you could put it towards a netbook. Much more practical than a laptop and many are dirt cheap too and are more than enough for taking class notes, browsing the internet and running MS office.

Otherwise, expect to spend at least $2000 USD for a laptop that can run FSX nicely. Whereas a desktop with the same performance could easily be had for about half that price.

Great advice. I will say a laptop is a nice thing to have in college. I dont know what I would do with out mine I use it in class often. However you do not need a powerful laptop to run powerpoint and word. I have a desktop that is ten times better then the laptop you posted and it cost just about $1200. You can get a cheap notebook for $300 that will run word, the internet and powerpoint for classes.

Like others said either look for a laptop with a better graphics card or build a desktop..

Can you upgrade a graphics card on an existing laptop? Just wondering.

Technically, yes. Practically, you wouldn't want to. It's a bitch to do. You literally have to tear the whole thing apart down to the last screw. And you can't just buy them off the shelf like you could for a normal desktop video card, and they're much more expensive than their equivalent desktop versions. Whereas swapping cards in a desktop takes two or three screws at most and a couple hundred bucks and you're good to go.

Another alternative is this:

But I hear they sacrifice lots of performance and have lots of compatibility issues.

I'd honestly just get a desktop. If you're at university or college, build a desktop for FSX (probably looking at C$1200) and spend C$400 on a netbook. You'll never run FSX (or any processor intensive application) on a laptop without spending a crapload more than you would on a desktop.

Keep your desktop in your halls (or home, where ever you live) and just carry about the netbook. It'll be way easier to carry, and you won't be tempted to procrastinate in lectures with a netbook, because there's nothing on it you don't need.
