Captain Sim, Level-D Or CLS 767?

Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:48 am

I want to buy a 767 payware aircraft and I was wondering which one. Captain Sim, Level-D or CLS?
I want one that operates well and looks good

Thanks,

I'm not sure about the other 2, but the CLS is very framerate friendly and easy to use.

If you go to avsim.com, you can excellent and extensive reviews on all three aircraft. Click on reviews on the top of the home page, and then aircraft reviews. There are tons, so just use the find function for each one.

If I didn't have final exams in a week, I would read all three reviews and give you my opinion. I can give you my opinion on the one of those three that id o own and have operated extensively, that being the Level-D 767.

It is easily one of the top payware aircraft in my fleet. Fantastic model, excellent systems, flies well. Overall it is also one of my favourite to operate. Now I have not tried the other two, but I have used products from each fo those companies. CLS I have used their DC-10 and A340 package (500/600). I was not impressed. These products models were decent, flying was good, but the systems were poor. The FMS was basic, and wasn't up to my advance simming levels. As for Captain Sim, I tried out their 757 and really did not like it. Not sure why, but it came down to my gut. You know, just when you don't like something. The visuals were decent, it flew nicely, but just did not like it.

So, if you ask me, I recommend based on those experiences above to go Level-D. It is touted as the best 767 to date, based on using it I can see why. But I have not flown the CLS or CS 767's. My second recommendation, read the Avsim aircraft reviews. They give screenshots, the test equipment used, and an thorough review. I read those reviews before any purchase.

Happy flying,

I have had the LDS 767 for a number of years, and whilst, people say its outdated, it does everything you need it to do. I strongly suggest you go for it!. It has full systems ie FMS and will give you hours of fun.

Quoting ZKNCL (Thread starter):
Level-D

This is the best one. If you want as real as it gets this is it. You will need to use the FMC, do the correct engine start checklist etc..

Captain Sim

Pretty decent, I have this one but only because I found it during the capsim sale for $10. Its pretty good. FMC is decent, full overhead etc.. Not as realistic as level D but you do need to have the right things set for engine start etc..

Quoting ZKNCL (Thread starter):
CLS?

This is the get in it and fly plane. Fake FMC that uses FS routes, very little overhead panel stuff etc.. If you want a simple get in and fly plane this is your pick.

Thanks Guys,

I have made up my decision and decided to get the Level-D 767 and get the Captain Sim one later on when I want to.

Good choice, Level D one is very good. I wish it had a better sound set though.

You wion't need the Captain Sim one, the Level D is great.

My CLS 767 is absolutly horrible with fps, I mean completely terrible. I have the CS767, it's alright but nothing to write home about... Decent on frames but the sounds are crap (I have a free CF6 set I added to it instead) never flown LDS but by all accounts it's the best one out there. But captain sim can't be that far behind

trust me, the 757 is crap. there later products (727, 767, 707, 737, 777) are MUCH better.

I have tried the LevelD, and I thought it was OK. personally, the interior on the CS model is what sold me.

Level-D is a gem. Not sure if you are using FS9 or FSX, but if you are using FS9, check out the HD VC upgrade from Zinertek. Makes a world of a difference for a very reasonable price.

Also, Angle of Attack has a video training series for the 767, fairly good series IMHO.

Edit: Whoops, didn't realize the dates. I guess it's time to go to bed!  Embarrassment  Smile
