FS9 Scenery Issues

Tue May 03, 2011 7:57 am

Hi there, fellow flight simmers. Just a couple of questions regarding a couple of issues I've been experiencing with FS9.
Issue #1 - high quality sceneries (FSDreamteam or flyTampa) are "shimmering" pretty bad.
Issue #2 - ground textures seem to "blur" or go out of focus.

First and foremost, here's the system I currently have:
ASUS G73 laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel i7 720 quad-core
ATI HD5870 video card
8GB RAM
640GB HDD (7200 rpm I think)

This rig runs FS9 (and FSX) with no problem. However, those two issues drive me crazy. I have read about all kinds of settings for the video card, updating drivers, and even deleting or renaming FS9.cfg. If I do rename the FS9.cfg and let FS9 build a new one, what happens to all of the add-ons I have? I have about 10,000 airplanes, Ultimate Traffic, REX, FScene4x, and numerous freeware and payware sceneries. Any help or advice you may have will be greatly appreciated!

FS9 I never have seen other than blurry and shimmering. It is built for a hardware with a single core CPU and a video cars with a few shaders only.
With your hardware go FSX, technolgically and from grafical quality it is many generations newer than FS9, with all its problems it is known to have...
