Pacific Miniatures B-747-400 house colors model with the shipping crate. Close to 6 feet long!
Crate is marked Boeing Exhibits / property of Boeing Commercial Airplane Company!

Apparently this auction company will have other models soon.

Well, if I ever win the lottery, the time for that is just about now.

I'd kill to have something like that.

I'm gonna be "that guy" for a second. I'm kinda surprised a model that big doesn't have more intricate detail. There are details yes, and inpressive they are. Guess it's just one of those "I'm just sayin" deals.

But I hear ya Braniff, it would be sweet to have.

Pfft. You fly the real thing.

What in the hell do you need a model for? Now I, I don't fly 747's. I need the model, thank you very much.

It seems the larger the models get, the less exterior details there are. I have two Westway 1/72 B-747 cutaway models, and they are quite detailed with control surface lines scribed in the wings and tail fin, and even transparent cockpit windows and side view to see the interior details of the cockpit seats, panel, center console etc. But the 1/40 B-747-400 in this auction, the cockpit is not shown at all, even from the side of the upper deck cutaway.

Some of the companies go overboard on details though. Another cutaway model I've got, a 1/25 B-767 has interior lighting, and the lavs have mirrors, the carpet and seats are cloth, the movie screens at the front of each cabin have scenes on them. Even though it is over 6 feet long, the wings and tail have control surface lines, but no fine details like panel seams, rivets etc. I guess if someone had the time to custom detail it...

Even when I am home I want to see that bird everyday. It is a simple amazing machine

I have several 1/200 models at home. MD11F, B733, B744, B748, PA28, Concorde

I'm sure. On that note, does LH have a company store to sell models and whatnot to employees?

Sold for $4250. Expensive.

While the non-cutaway model sold for $1400

I'm sure shipping was expensive too... Oh well. Maybe one day I'll be able to have one.

Be patient You never know when you will come across these... eBay, swap meet, even a craigslist listing!

These B-747-400 models were the property of Boeing, and that will raise the prices, because the crates are stenciled accordingly. The same models without crates or specific previous owner history will often be less than half those prices.
