Flight´s release seems to have passed by unnoticed. I do want to see screenies and or reviews and see how it performs, but I do not agree with the way M$ decided to market this game, so I will stick to my good ole FS9 for a while.

Most simmers I've spoken to (myself included) plan on sticking either with FS9 or FSX.

I brought myself to install Flight! yesterday and gave it a try. Of course I knew what to expect from it, but I thought I should at least have a look at it. Well, the graphics are nice. It performs awesomely smooth on my system, which runs every modern game on full details, but still struggles with FSX. I have set every slider to maximum and it runs like a charm. It does look better than FSX in some ways. For example the autogen is really impressive, the forrests look beautiful. The water is not that different, compared to FSX. New features like accurate cliffs at the coast are nice and the dusk/dawn settings look nice out of the box. Compared to other games like BF3 the graphics still look a little outdated. The clouds are still ugly and they didn't include features like sloped runways. But for a global FS this would be the best we could wish for with a good performance, sadly they decided to develop this in a different direction.

However I found the non-existant simulation-part as very bothersome. It really is just full throttle ahead, and you have to try very hard to crash the plane. The flight model feels more like driving a car in the early Need For Speed titles. Flying a jet in Battlefield 3 feels actually more real than flying in Flight!. That should sum it up.

Apart from that it's a nice "game" in my opinion. I doubt that I will use it a lot though. After flying through circles for 10 minutes, I get a little bored and the missing depth of the game is not motivating to put any more time into it. What is really sad is that it has great potential in my opinion. The new features are nice and if they would have developed a flight simulator out of it, this would probably have been the FS we all have been waiting for. At least for all of us that still can't get FSX to work properly. The performance is great on today's hardware, which was never the case with any FS before. So we will see what the future holds for Flight!, and if there is a way that this will be turned into a global FS one day, who knows. Until then I will stick with my good ole FS9.

MS made a huge boo boo canning the team that made FS9 and FSX. What they have released will not satisfy the simmers who have had experience with previous products.

Am I right in saying that you need a Steam account for this? If so, previous experience of this joke tells me to avoid this sim like the plague.

C'mon MS, get rid of this and build us something we want.

It doesn't seem like anyone's playing it. I downloaded and played it day one for about 15 minutes and haven't touched it since. Nor do I plan to.
