Your Opinion About Airways Magazine?

Hi All,

What do you think of Airways magazine? I am thinking about subscribing. I have been following them on twitter, and they do a great job covering the airline industry news.

I like Airways magazine, but I prefer Airliner World. I have both. I actually subscribe to Airliner World from the US (it is printed in the UK). This makes it expensive, but it is worth it. Airways is nice, but I don't like the layout as much and it seems to have less material. Check for deals on back issues on eBay. People often sell them as recent as the same month that they are published at a much lower price than the subscription.

I used to subscribe to Airways but I found the articles a bit boring, Airliner World has a lot more substance and quite a cool news section (a bit redundant though due to news being readily available online). Still.. the pics are awesome!

I get both as well, but actually think it is the articles in Airways which have more substance than the ones in Airliner World. The articles in Airliner World read like a template (they are all very similar), and they are often short on history. I also get "Airports of the World" from the same publisher; the news articles often repeat with the ones in Airliner World which is very annoying when you pay for both.

I like the writers for Airways. Good features, good regulars. Been a subscriber for 16 years. Airliner World is chock full, but too newsy for me, and too expensive for me except for an occasional purchase. Actual industry news I get online or AW&ST.

I agree 100%. I've subscribed to Airways since day one, and I feel that of the "big three" airline enthusiast magazines (Airways, Airliner World, and Airliners), Airways' articles are by far the strongest. It seems like Airways' authors do a lot more research before writing their articles.

People seem to either love or hate Airliner World, but unfortunately I fall into the latter category. It seems like Airliner World's articles consist of just a few bullet points, without a lot of detail.

As I've said in the long running "Airliners Magazine is going down hill" thread, it seems like many of the articles in Airliners are only in the magazine to promote Airliners' advertisers.

Isn't Airliners magazine essentially dead ? Given the fact that Barnes and Nobles and most magazine stores no longer carry it how are people supposed to know it still exists ? My biggest gripe with Airliner World is its price tag but it does do a good job of complementing Airways magazine. Just look at all the interesting articles that this months issue has :

I recently had a chance to buy several years worth of old issues of Airliners from the 1990's and the quality was simplay stunning. Shame they went under...
