Will Flight Simulator 98 Work On Windows 7?

Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:42 am

I know this sounds ridiculous and totally outdated, but I installed Flight Simulator 98 on my new Windows 7 PC, and it did start up and stuff, however after selecting my aircraft and when I hit "fly now," the view from the cockpit was pitch black and so was all other views, anyone know why? Then I also ran the windows compatibility program to help check if the program would run on windows made some adjustments to the theme and to the screen and then all of a sudden it worked, the view out the cockpit window was showing the horizon and airport, runway, etc. However once I changed the view from cockpit to tower it showed pitched black again, then I ran the windows compatibility program again and then it said "software is incompatible," then I just gave up and uninstalled the program, anyone have any good advice or changes that I can make to hopefully run FS98 on windows 7 at all, or is it just totally impossible, because it did work fine on windows XP in 2009....even then I had minor problems. Thanks

You will need to right click on the icon, run in compatibility mode for Windows XP and run in 16 bit colors. It will work.

I've gotten Serria Pro Pilot to work so I don't see why not.
Clear skies and strong tail winds.
