Best Place To Buy Large Model Airliners?

Sat Dec 29, 2012 2:27 am

Hi all,

I want to buy a friend of mine a really big model airliner for his birthday. I'm thinking
something like a Concord or a VC-10 maybe retro style, if not, maybe then a large
A380 or 777. I mean something really big and impressive that would need a big stand or maybe
even hung from a ceiling. (Yes my friend is a big Aerosexual!)

I don't mind what country I have to order it from as long as its safe to pay via Credit Card, but i'd really
like something special. Anybody have any ideas? Preferably one that can be ordered over the net?
Thanks guys!

Have you looked on Ebay? Thousands to choose from. A 1/72 Concorde would be about 1 meter long.

This might be better, moved over to the Aviation Hobby forum.

Have a look at eztoys. You can filter searches to only 1:100 scale which, for a widebody aircraft, is pretty large. I bought a 1:200 model from them a few months back.

Happy shopping.

Check out Atlantic-Models(dot)com in Miami, Florida. They have even done full-scale model nose sections of Boeing 737! But, I'm supposing you would be in the market for something in the 1:72 to 1:50 scale range. They do those, too. I have two 1:72 Lockheed Constellations from them and they are pretty nice. BTW, Bader models, as mentioned above, in Bahrain does museum-quality airliner models (in all scales, I think). regards...jack

Quoting Citationjet (Reply 3):
Bader models...

Great stuff; I've got an IR 742 in 1:200 and it is fantastic.
The 747 will always be the TRUE queen of the skies!

If you're into kits, get the Welsh 1:72 VC10, that's a big kit! I built a Heller 707 in that scale recently, they're impressive...
