JP Airline Fleets 2013/2014?

Thu Mar 28, 2013 3:53 am

Does anyone know when the JP Airline Fleets 2013/2014 edition will be released? Also, are there other similar sources for airline fleets, or is JP considered the best?

In my eyes, JP was THE reference back in the las Millenium and early 2000s ... nowadays it's outdated the day it gets off the press, as there are other sources on the net to get accurate and up-to-date fleet data from. Having it on your ipad or schlepping it around on spotting trips can help though for a quick reference.

It's due to be released in June apparently.

Do you have any suggestion for good resources on the Internet for plane spotting/reg logging?

Planespotters.net has up to date fleet listings and production lists; it's kept pretty up to date. I am a regular visitor to the A330/777 production lists, which are updated every week to ten days or so.

You should also check Skyliner aviation, which has a daily update; it's usually out at about 7am CET.

For UK/Irish carriers, try Jethros fleet listings.

I use Airfleets for general fleet info. Never had a problem.

Is anyone else disappointed in the content of the JP fleet book ? It seems to be less up to date at publishing time than when it was produced in Switzerland. They have dropped aircraft names and info on those in special colour schemes, which to me seems an intergral part of seeing a particular aircraft.

There's also www.planelogger.com which has one of the most comprehensive searchable registration database on the internet. Fleet listings will be added soon.

With planelogger you can also mark off the aircraft that you have seen.

My personal interest in JP Airline fleet is that they give MTOW data for each particular frame.

Do you know any website giving MTOW data for each airplane ?

FB.

I do a lot of aircraft research as I write for a hobby, and find two of the best resources are the Air Transport Data Bank website, www.atdb.aero, and www.airlinerlist.com. If you're looking for information on Australian (and some NZ) aircraft, you just can't beat www.aussieairliners.org - it's the best!
