More Manila Folder Creations: GE90-115B!

Tue May 07, 2013 2:41 am

I recently posted a video and some pictures of the nose landing gear I made for my model 777-300ER project… many of you seemed curious about my progress and so I'd like to share a few more things! Some of you may have discovered the video on my youtube channel that shows the thrust reversers in action, but I wanted to post some pictures of the engines in their completed form as well. I finished these last year between January and May (each took about two months to build, but I was by no means working on them continuously). Each is made of ~900 pieces of paper. Currently they're sitting around awaiting the completion of the rest of the model.

Please click to enlarge!

Love the shape of the -115B's fanblades!

I actually made the fanblades back in 2008… which explains the low quality of the photo.

Installing the aft section of the cowling containing the thrust reversers

Thrust reversers deployed

Mesh added

Adding the last bit of skin

All done!

Wow.

I don't know what more I can say, but I'm totally speechless. I've been following your posts with interest. Your dedication to this project is highly commendable. I can't wait to see the complete model!

Well done!

Thank you both!!

The body is nearing completion, and once it's done I'll be applying the livery in clear gloss (for a very subtle effect). I'll hopefully have a video of that posted in a month or two!

Just commented on your landing gear post and then came across this. Those engines are incredible. The detail, accuracy, and the fact it's made from manila folder -- unbelievable.
